Summary: The function of the Software and database developer is to perform end to end software development life-cycle (SDLC) activities, from initial user business requirement, translate into technical specification design, develop, program, test custom computer applications to aid automation of the production systems and computer integrated manufacturing. Serve as a technical expert for the design, development and supporting the database systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Serve as a technical expert in the design, development and maintaining of manufacturing engineering databases -Design and develop custom software applications to improve productivity, visibility in the manufacturing systems -Administrate IIS-SQL Server Installations for development and production environments -Understand/analyze and provide technical support for the existing custom tools -Gather/Analyze the requirements of the new software solutions -Design and develop custom user interfaces/software applications -Research and mine through the data in our legacy database and build new databases -Prepare the required documentation every step of the SDLC activities -Maintain and upgrade legacy software if required during the transition -Interface with methods engineering to grasp the understanding of current process to develop new solutions for automation and improvement activities -Bring forward new approaches to process ideas and concepts for enhanced product productivity and quality.
Education and/or Experience Bachelor degree in computer science or in an engineering field or any technical degree with emphasis in software and database development from an accredited school and four or more years of direct experience in programming and database development or any equivalent combination of education and experience, Additional experience or exposure to CNC programming and CAM environment is a plus.
Computer Skills Development skills: VB 6.0, , C#.NET, Development environments: Visual Studio 6.0, Visual Studio .NET Database: MS Access, MS SQL, SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2 Other: Design patterns (MVVM, MVC), WCF, WPF, Visual Source Safe, Custom SQL report development
Other Skills and Abilities Development experience in collaborative software development environments and database systems Strong fundamental knowledge of SQL and relational database design Strong object oriented programming experience Administrating/Supporting IIS-SQL Server Installations Experience with maintaining and supporting SQL Server Experience working with web services Exposure to CNC programming and CAM environment will be plus
