Description
Duties and Responsibilities: serves as a junior to mid-level software developer, using primarily Ruby/Rails. One of 4-5 developers on a small 8 or 9 person team that is converting a Lotus Notes-based system to an Oracle database and a web-based user interface built with Ruby/Rails.
Required Qualifications: Six years of IT experience, four of which must be "specialized" (i.e., Ruby, Java, or equivalent/similar); experience with Oracle or other RDBMS. Bachelor's degree in relevant technical or discipline is highly desireable. BS in CS, IT, Engineering, or Business can be counted as one year of "specialized" experience and two years of general experience. An MS in CS, IT, Engineering, or Business can count as an additional year of specialized experience and an additional two years of general experience. Solid written and oral communication skills are required - close and frequent user/delveloper collaboration is the norm. Close working relationship with other team members (DBA, Test Analyst, Requiremetns Analyst, other Developers is also the project standard. The team is co-located with the user community.
Desired Qualifications: Successful candidate will likely have additional technical training or experience beyond Ruby (e.g., Java, C++, etc.) and a solid base of Oracle experience would be a very strong plus. Any experience with Lotus Notes/LotusScript 7 would make an ideal fit.
