Data Architect DescriptionThe Data Architect participates on and leads cross-functional teams responsible for identifying complex data, integration, and application architecture requirements. Once requirements are identified, this person has responsibility to analyze and socialize solution options while ensuring that data is properly defined, documented, implemented, and governed. The Data Architect serves as a formal and informal advocate for the IT strategies that define and govern data and application integration. Responsibilities * Design, develop and maintain logical and physical data models, application data stores, data warehouses and their interfaces. * Accountable for governance, consistency, accuracy, security, process, integrity and quality of data within a solution unit. * Work effectively with Product Managers, Senior Management, Business Analysts, Technical Architects, Project Managers, Software Engineers, and Database Administrators to create and maintain the overall data architecture, priorities, roadmap, and success measures for the Solution Unit * Work with software engineers to map business process models to data models, and create Object/Relational models to support serialization to the database. * Identify & address application data issues that affect application integrity * Communicate, educate and ensure adherence to sound data management principles and where possible, the re-use of data as well creating and managing meta-data and business rules for the use of data. * Review and sign-off on all project data models * Ensure that the database design fulfills functional & technical requirements, including design-for-performance * Review the deliverables throughout development to ensure quality & traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans & standards Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent years of experience in related field * 10+ years in architecting, developing, modeling, and deploying commercial grade relational (OLTP) and dimensional (Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse/Planning) database solutions. * Experience with modelling tools such as Erwin, Designer and Jdeveloper * Strong Oracle DBA background as it pertains to data architecture translating to implementation, real life deployments and leveraging Oracle database technology * In depth understanding of data modeling, entity-relationship modeling and dimensions modeling * Experienced with the analysis of business processes, workflow, data mapping and cross-data integration of non-generic application platforms * Able to balance and prioritize multiple concurrent projects effectively. * Possesses strong leadership skills and is experienced driving to solutions in a team environment. * Aptitude for generating innovative solutions and has a bias toward action. Self-motivated, responsible, and accountable * Ability to work with business users, subject matter experts, project managers, software engineers and testers to gather and clarify requirements * Excellent analytical, writing, time management and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate conceptual and technical architecture design both orally and in writing * Hard worker, quick learner, and eager to leverage new technologies.
