Description
Mercer's Health & Benefits business helps employers of all sizes develop, implement, and monitor employee benefits programs and strategies. The software developer will be based in our Phoenix, AZ office and support work on a large Fortune 100 Mercer high-profile client. This intermediate level developer will develop code, test and debug new and existing software used for analyzing, benchmarking and comparing client compensation and benefits data to make informed benefit plan decisions. To fulfill this role, the intermediate software developer will:
Code, test and debug software programs via new application program and enhancements to existing software to meet project plan goals under limited guidance from senior software developers.
Use Microsoft .Net technologies and relational database languages along with Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0 and 3.0
Utilize Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to code and modify business applications in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
Provide technical support to internal or external clients on existing problems escalated from call support center
Provide Tier III support through help desk (Tier I)
Monitor trends and results from technical support calls to advise senior team members on performance of existing systems
Act as technical resource for other programmer analysts on the software team
Advise project team members on time and cost estimates on project plans given their programming expertise.

Qualifications
*BA/BS in Computer Science or related field or corresponding experience
*4-6 years software development experience
*Strong experience in Visual , , C#, VBA and Sharepoint
*Prefer experience in PL/SQL, Oracle, Client-Side JavaScript, HTML
*Experience developing multi-tier internet/intranet applications preferably in cross-browser environments
*Demonstrated analytical and design capabilities
*Working knowledge of database design
*Self started with excellent organizational and time management skills
*Fast learner, quality consciousness and committed to deadlines.
