Job Description: Responsible for writing and developing effective proposal materials that fulfil client requirements and that relate to the HP solution and value proposition in a compelling manner. The SCD initiates the writing process, allowing proposal content to develop concurrently with solutioning activities. Initially, the SCD utilizes Proposal Web, which provides a rich source for proposal content. In addition to this content, the SCD uses journalistic writing techniques and HP product knowledge to interview the solution team during the solution development process.
Develops written proposal content, utilizing best-in-class intellectual capital (references, hybrid pre-populated proposal examples, guidelines, templates, recommended approaches, etc.) Attends Win Strategy Labs, Solution Storyboard sessions, and solution meeting(s) to understand solution, value proposition, win themes, and differentiators to write compelling, client-facing content Develops the proposal storyboard(s), updating as necessary in a facilitated discussion with key pursuit team members (guides the writing of each Works closely with solution team to understand proposed solution Coaches solution leaders, tower leaders, and any other contributors, developing proposal content (utilizing the Proposal Storyboard output or writers guide as appropriate) Conducts initial review of sections and establishes consistency between sections and as needed, augments proposal content drafts provided by SME writers Works with Bid Manager to define proposal development milestones and calendar. Reviews the compliance matrix/outline provided by the Bid Manager and provides feedback as necessary. Reviews the writing shells provided by the DTP and provides feedback as necessary. Uses HP-branded proposal-related tools, templates, and packaging Ensures the writing team is utilizing the shells, proposal storyboard or writers deck that is developed. Assists CSE on writing Executive Summary. Adheres to consistent writing style, constructs, etc., as defined by the HP brand and style Guide. Ensures proposal deliverables meet client expectations and are well-written and concise, demonstrating an integrated solution across towers Participates in Pink and Red Team reviews and incorporates revisions. Assists Bid Manager with Gold Team changes, as necessary. Engages Graphic Artist, Editor and DTP as needed. Manages other SCDs on the pursuit as necessary. Assists DTP and Bid Manager in QC checks. Assists DTP and Bid Manager in final production process.
Prerequisites: * Four year college degree and more than 5 years work experience in a technical role, in the IT industry, government sector, or sales support. * Prior experience with IT-related proposals in a technical writing role. * Skilled in sales or marketing writing and familiar with standard style guides, such as Shipley or Associated Press Style Book, Strunk and White Elements of Style, and Chicago Manual of Style. * Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint * Understands business objectives and issues to incorporate client benefits, value proposition, win themes, and differentiators into proposal deliverables. * U.S. Citizenship.
Education and Experience Required:
* Technical University degree or Bachelor's degree preferred * 8-12 years experience in technical consultative selling and solution/account management * Technical and solution experience in IT industry * Experience in vertical industry preferred * 5-7 years experience in project/program management * Appropriate solution or career certifications Knowledge and Skills Required:
Technical/Solution acumen * Demonstrates a broad knowledge of HP's technology & solutions, with deep expertise in area of specialization * Links HP solutions with data business center needs to create customer business value * Applies broad understanding of technical innovations & trends to solving customer business problems * Establishes thought leadership in solution or technical specialty area with customers * Demonstrated ability to work as the lead for components of large complex projects * Has a high level understanding of the HP product/services roadmaps for multiple BU's * Has demonstrated hands-on level skills with some of the technology in their solution area Business acumen * Leverages financial and accounting concepts as well as capital investment concepts in demonstrating business value of proposed solutions to customers * Creates solutions that creatively address customer value chain and business requirements * Persuasively communicates the value of the solution in terms of financial return and impact on customer business goals * Appropriately tailors communications to varying levels of customer management Industry acumen * Extensive level of industry acumen; keeps current with trends and able to converse with client on issues and challenges
