Contract Position - Must have VMWARE Experience! Job Purpose:Uses in-depth technical knowledge to perform comprehensive solution analysis and responds to highly complex and/or specialized requests from customers, Solutions Sales Representatives or others to provide timely and accurate final design solutions (configurations) and maintenance to customers or appropriate sales team. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Engages with the customer to understand the full scope of the solution request. * Utilizes appropriate tool sets and technical knowledge to effectively process requests for specific hardware, software, license, services and configuration solution designs. * Creates solution and delivers it to the customer or to appropriate sales team. * Leverages knowledge of product and solution offerings and technical configurations to identify openings for add-ons, services, warranty up-lifts, consolidations and other additional up-sell and cross-sell opportunities. * customer/vendor based on availability, functionality and cross-reference assistance. * Maintains integrity of customer information in Avnet systems, including preparation of Bill of Materials, customer-specific special instructions, etc., as appropriate. * Collaborates with appropriate internal and external resources (vendors, customers, Avnet employees, suppliers, etc.) to resolve all pertinent technical issues impeding delivery of optimum design solutions, escalating as needed. * Follows through on all opportunities to share information relating to the configuration that may result in additional business. * Participates in customer account reviews as requested, providing customer and product technical knowledge in collaboration with the other team members to increase the number of business opportunities. * Participates in budget reviews as requested and assists in determining gaps and actions needed to improve business results. * Serves as a resource and encourages partners and other team members to take advantage of education opportunities. * Provides appropriate training as situations arise to educate partners and team members regarding supplier products, solutions, licensing, complex or specialized technical design solutions, and processes and tools. * Maintains product and supplier certifications, as required. Knowledge and Skills: * Demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge and skill in effectively and efficiently analyzing configuration requests or providing successful recommended alternative configuration or products to capture additional sales. * Demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge and skill in effectively and efficiently applying expert knowledge in the area of highly complex or specialized design solution analysis for specific solution products and services, licensing, practices, procedures and methods. * Demonstrates expert knowledge of product offerings, applications and the ability to apply guidelines to resolve problems resolving customer requirements. * Verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills sufficient to work in a successful team environment and effectively interface with supplier and customer representatives by telephone and e-mail. * Knowledge of supply chain procedures. * Knowledge of distribution industry. * Demonstrated understanding of Avnet core processes and their impact for the customer. * Ability to perform mathematical calculations. * Working knowledge of sales and quoting systems. * Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks based on process requirements. * Demonstrated customer service skills. * Demonstrated negotiation skills. * Demonstrated understanding of how different roles, processes and groups work together to make effective suggestions for improvement. * Demonstrated ability to mentor and assist other members of the team. Work Experience Requirements: * Two (2) years of progressive experience in the area of configuration design solution with related successful experience working with customers in a technical or sales role within a computer products, system solutions-related distribution business or similar environment. Education & Certification Requirements: * Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of formal education, training and directly related progressive job experience. * Appropriate product/supplier certifications. Distinguishing Characteristics: * This is an individual contributor who successfully processes highly complex or specialized solution designs and who successfully engages in opportunities for upside solutions sales based on advanced technical knowledge and effective customer and team interaction.
