Position Description
The purpose of this position is to manage the sourcing of IT products and services required to support BMC's ongoing business operations, including the acquisition of software, computer-related hardware, professional services, contract labor, support services, etc.
The incumbent will work collaboratively with IT staff members and BMC business representatives in managing the full spectrum of IT-related procurement activities from vendor identification and
Provides leadership in creating, maintaining, and managing the interaction between BMC IT and key vendors, providers, and/or suppliers of IT goods and services to BMC Systems, Inc. Facilitates at a strategic level the ongoing working relationships between BMC IT staff, IT Operations, BMC Sales Teams / Alliance / Channel Organizations, and IT vendors. Establishes and maintains complex-working relationships that leverage BMC's position in obtaining optimum pricing and terms for BMC that maximize ROI and highlight TCO. Works closely with IT teams to develop and employ strategic sourcing strategies designed to ensure an alignment between BMC technology showcases and emerging supplier technologies. Supervises the negotiation of pricing, contractual terms and conditions, and SLAs (Service Level Agreements). Oversees the creation and distribution of RFx offerings. Establishes benchmarks, best practices, policies, and procedures used to manage the ongoing interaction between BMC, its IT suppliers, and key BMC stakeholders. Regularly interacts with corporate officers both BMC and third party.-Establishes, develops, and nourishes ongoing working relationships with priority IT vendors.-Conducts regular priority vendor reviews and scorecards metrics.-Fields client requests for intervention in vendor interactions, discussions, and other vendor interactions.-Handles cold calls from prospective providers/suppliers.-Acts as single point of contact for at least one BMC IT Director.-Monitors Infrastructure technology research for IT product improvements and innovations.-Negotiates Terms and Conditions for inclusion in vendor contracts.-Manages contract performance with priority IT Infrastructure Vendors-Contributes to creation of VMO policies, processes, and best practices-Ensures that budget exists for vendor related projects.-Supervises cross functional interactions and relationships with vendors as necessary to ensure consistency and strategic focus.-Interact with all levels of client management and vendor staff. Requires BS or equivalent in Information Systems Management, Network Management, or Technology Management, MBA preferred. -7-10 years experience in a technology operation or sales unit. -Knowledge or experience in at least one technology industry sector.-Successful understanding and adoption of VMO policy, process, and procedures.
