Specialist System Administrator
This role will administer multiple SAS 9.2 environments for Global Biomedical Data Sciences (GBDS) and Corporate Compliance departments at Amgen. The successful candidate will be an experienced SAS administrator who will interact with GBDS users, IS professionals and outsourced support (HP and IBM) to maintain high availability systems. The candidate will also be responsible for interacting directly with SAS on technical issues. This person will coordinate troubleshooting and make recommendations for the configuration of the SAS infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities •Lay out multi-year roadmap for SAS technology for GBDS & Corporate Compliance •Conduct annual project and budget planning sessions for SAS environments •Provide operational support for existing environments in conjunction with HP (helpdesk), IBM( sys admin) and SAS resources •Monitor SAS technology developments and apply hot fixes, patches and upgrades as needed •Apply new licenses annually •Administer SAS Enterprise Business Intelligence and GRID environments •Forecast capacity requirements and manage projects to proactively adjust resources as needed •Monitor environments for issues and address as needed •Conduct problem review sessions for significant issues and apply lessons learned to prevent recurrences •Maintain environments in accordance with service level agreements •Conduct annual disaster recovery exercises
Basic Qualifications • Doctorate degree OR • Master's degree & 3 years of directly related experience OR • Bachelor's degree & 5 years of directly related experience OR • Associate's degree & 10 years of directly related experience OR • High school diploma / GED & 12 years of directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications • 2+ years administering SAS environments • Experience managing and supporting regulated systems • Experience applying change management methodologies • Bachelors or higher degree in science, technology, business or related field Experience administering SAS •Business Intelligence environments • Experience with SAS GRID environments • Experience with SUN Solaris Amgen (or pharmaceutical industry) experience • Excellent data-driven problem solving and analytical skills
