Responsible for installation, integration, configuration, testing, operation, maintenance and security of Global Command and Control System (GCCS) and other command and control (C2) and situational awareness applications.
- Install and configure Solaris and Windows server and client hardware and operating systems.
- Install, integrate, secure and test GCCS and other government C2 software applications.
- Operate and maintain GCCS and other government and commercial off-the-shelf (GOTS/COTS) C2 systems to include network and tactical system interfaces, DoD and site unique software applications, data communication channels, databases, and display systems.
- Solicit, analyze, and respond to operational user requirements, recommendations and system performance feedback.
- Create, maintain, and manage system administrator and user accounts.
- Document, monitor, administer and report on system security posture in accordance with DoD and local guidance and policy.
- Coordinate with enterprise network, system and software engineers for all installation, testing, integration, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Provide technical support, subject matter expertise, and advice to the government in support of defining and prioritizing C2 system requirements, purchasing hardware and software, preparing installation and test plans, and participating in technical conferences and working groups.
- Train system and network administrators, and operational users on C2 system configuration and operation.
- Prepare and pre-configure deployable equipment packages for remote operation, and instruct administrators and operational users on set-up and operation procedures.
- Provide Tier II / Tier III support for local and remote C2 systems, including impact assessment, troubleshooting and repair of servers, network interfaces, clients, software applications, databases, and other system interfaces.
Training, Education and Certification:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Sciences or related technical discipline; or associates degree in science and two years of vocational/technical training in computer sciences.
- Solaris 10 Operating System certification required; Solaris 10 System Administrator certification preferred.
- Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) required; Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) preferred.
- ITIL v3 Foundations certification preferred.
- Documented formal classroom training in GCCS system administration required.
Demonstrated Capabilities and Experience:
- Minimum 7 years experience in system administration, with minimum 5 years hands-on experience with GCCS and related systems.
- Proficient in selecting and ordering equipment, fabricating racks and pulling cables, installing and configuring Solaris and Windows hardware, network interfaces, and associated peripheral storage, backup and monitoring equipment.
- Proficient in installing, configuring, locking-down and testing new GCCS Solaris and Windows software.
- Proficient in building, ghosting, and configuring GCCS Windows client images.
- Proficient in conducting security lock-downs and scans using common tools such as DISA's Gold Disk, eEye Retina; and in configuring and operating enterprise security tools such as Host-Based Security System (HBSS), and McAfee and Norton anti-virus.
- Proficient in analyzing and maintaining security logs and records and in preparing and maintaining Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Program (DIACAP) documentation and artifacts.
- Proficient in processing GCCS account requests, validating security clearances, building GCCS account profiles, and administration of Microsoft Active Directory.
- Proficient in training new GCCS users, and training existing users on new GCCS software releases.
- Proficient in establishing and administering Common Operational Picture (COP) communication channels and track databases, and assisting users in building and tailoring COP displays.
- Proficient in creating and administering remote access solutions for GCCS system users.
- Proficient in providing on-site and virtual help desk, problem isolation, and resolution support to local and deployed users.
- Proficient at planning, preparing and providing specialized headquarters, Joint Task Force (JTF) and deployed user support for exercises, operations and contingencies.
- Familiarity with U.S. Special Operations Command Scampi Network and Tactical Local Area Network (TacLAN) systems.
- Familiarity with Service C2 systems and interfaces, including Command and Control Personal Computer (C2PC), Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS) FalconView, Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System (JADOCS), Multi-National Information System (MNIS), Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System (CENTRIXS), and Google Earth.
- Familiarity with network encryption devices such as KG-175 TACLANE, and with cross domain guards such as Radiant Mercury.
- Familiarity with Continuity of Operations (COOP), and Disaster Response & Recovery (DR&R) policies, procedures and support requirements.
- Familiarity with enterprise change control and configuration management procedures and tools such as BMC Remedy.
- Ability to communicate effectively and deal with demanding customers in stressful situations.
- Ability to prioritize work, respond to crises, and dynamically re-task as situations change.
Additional Requirements:
- Current Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI required.
- Applicable DoD 8570.01-M certification required.
- This position may require shift and weekend work.
- This position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations worldwide, and may include hazardous duty areas.
- Work is typically performed in an office environment and at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
