Title: SQL Database Administrator (Innovation DBA) Location: Mexico-Guadalajara This is an opportunity for a SQL Server DBA consultant to work alongside other experts in the company to contribute at both strategic and tactical levels as an SQL SERVER DBA for GADSC global team for HP's projects.
You will contribute with technical and business knowledge expertise to design, implement and support integrated IT/Business solutions for HP company. In this role you will be in charge of manage and support SQL Server Databases amongst other things as well. The primary objective of this position is to provide mission-critical SQL Server database implementation, administration and support. This position is required to work on projects of diverse scope related to SQL Server technologies, where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of various factors.
The SQL Server DBA should have experience installing, implementing, and administering the SQL Server Databases with versions 2005 and 2008 . Software implementation experience is preferable so that the DBA will have had support experience with several software development environments as well as packaged applications. Intermediate to expert knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008 technologies is required for the purposes of SQL Server administration. Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical solutions over the telephone and via email with people from multiple technical expertise levels.
Profile: * BS or MS in Computer Science or Information Systems degree, information systems, or equivalent experience. * 3 years proven experience as SQL Server DBA on 2005/2008. Skills: * A good knowledge of physical database design. * Ability to perform both SQL and also operating system performance monitoring and the necessary adjustments. * Excellent knowledge of SQL Server backup and recovery scenarios. * Good skills in all SQL Server tools. *Proactive tuning of database systems to meet business needs *Complete understanding of how to administer SQL Server systems through enterprise manager, knowledge of SQL Server agent and jobs * Designing, testing, implementation and maintenance of high availability solutions, MS cluster knowledge * A good knowledge of SQL Serversecurity management. * Experience and knowledge in migrating code, database changes, data and menus through the various stages of the software development life cycle. * A good knowledge of the way SQL Server enforces data integrity. * System builds and compliance with release management, change management and quality assurance standards * A sound knowledge of both database and program code performance tuning. * Allocation of systems storage and develop plans for future growth requirements * The successful candidate should have the combination of education and experience that provides the basis for delivering the necessary job functions, skills, and knowledge as described in this job description.
Desired additional skills: * Master Degree is a plus. *Relevant certifications preferred. * A good knowledge of a wide variety of operating system(s), i.e. HP UX, and Microsoft Windows. * Sound communication skills with the ability to communicate with people from multiple cultures and technical knowledge levels. * Ability to communicate complex technical solutions completely over the telephone and via email. * Excellent written communication skills are essential for documenting work and developing project plans and procedures for database maintenance.
