SUMMARY Under minimal supervision, administers database, web, application and batch process servers, with a primary focus on design and infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Maintains several database environments; applies updates, maintenance packs, patches, & fixes for all environments. * Prepares implementation plans for application upgrades and may coordinate rollout. * Designs database reporting infrastructure. * Monitors server performance and makes changes as needed. May design performance monitoring systems. * Mentors new DBA staff and provides training. * Works closely with developers, support and QA teams to design and optimize all DB environments. * Prepares scripts to automate administration tasks. * Performs advanced database administration activities including; installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, database backup and recovery, and may design disaster recovery procedures. * Performs installation, configurations, and maintenance for clustered database servers. * Plans and performs database server upgrades and determines standards for server configuration. * Performs database reviews and provides input to database design. * Writes and reviews stored procedures and makes recommendations for optimization. * May assist less experienced peers. Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor?s degree required. Higher level education preferred. * Minimum of six to nine years of experience in related field; or * An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. * 2+ years of experience architecting, developing and deploying solutions on SQL Server 2008 including analysis services and reporting services. Experience with SQL Server 2008R2 highly desired. * Extensive experience and proven ability to design and develop a data warehouse. * Extensive experience and proven ability to design SSAS Cubes. * Performance tuning for SQL Server and Analysis Server, queires, stored prodecures, views, etc. * Proven ability to design, develop and troubleshoot SSIS packages as well as design and tuning ETL processes.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS * Has a wide range of experience and able to resolve complex issues. Works on complex and diverse projects. Analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises good judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining solutions. * Excellent knowledge of database administration, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and systems analysis procedures. * Excellent working knowledge of database software and operating systems. * Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in development process. Excellent presentation skills. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. * Able to design databases according to industry standards and make tuning recommendations. * Able to write and optimize complex queries. * Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) a plus. * Experience with MDX queries. * Troubleshooting and supporting Analysis Services for custom developed solutions, TFS and Project Server. * Familiar with SQL Server components that interoperate with SharePoint. * Excel services and powerpivot experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS * General typical office setting with environmentally controlled conditions. At times, will work in low-temperature server rooms. * Able to work extended hours as business needs dictate. * May require participation in after hours support rotation.
