SQL Developer
The Baldwin Group, Inc. (TBG) seeks a talented individual with experience in Structured Query Language (SQL) programming and data management using Microsoft SQL Server to provide support and technical implementation of database driven products to the NOAA Coastal Services Center (CSC) in Charleston, South Carolina.
A part of the NOAA National Ocean Service, CSC’s mission is to support the environmental, social, and economic well-being of the coast by linking people, information, and technology. CSC () works with various partners in the public, educational and all levels of government to bring information, services, and technology to the nation's coastal resource managers.
The Data Management Team at CSC is part of the Application Development Services Program and coordinates data and database related issues between project teams and application developers. The Data Management Team primarily facilitates data management through Data Stewards, who handle the day to day management tasks for specific data sets.
Duties
? Constructing SQL Server database objects (DDL) and implementing queries (DML) that perform the business functions of the database models
? Develop database code to support the needs of the applications using SQL Server
? Provide primary response for Database Help Desk tickets from Help Desk
? Assist in the day to day maintenance and management of the SQL Server and products depending on the database systems
? Support the Data Management team with ad-hoc requests
Requirements:
Qualifications
? Minimum 3 years’ experience using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later is required
? Demonstrated proficiency with writing TSQL, implementing database designs from ERDs, developing custom UDF’s, performance tuning and testing as well as working knowledge of the various components of the SQL Server system
? Organization and attention to detail
? Good customer service skills and the ability to work in a team environment
? Excellent written and oral communication skills
? Experience in any of the following areas highly desirable:
? Working with geospatial data within SQL Server, specifically the geometry data types and Open Geospatial Consortium specifications and extended operations for geospatial types
? Demonstrable experience in using SQL Profiler for performance tuning
? Working knowledge of using with BIDS to construct and deploy SSIS packages
? Familiarity with the setup, configuration and operation of the OpenData Protocol
? Familiarity with the current Open Geospatial Consortium specifications
? Familiarity with ESRI products
