SUMMARY Under general supervision, administers database, web, application and batch process servers, with a primary focus on setup, configuration, monitoring and management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Maintains several database environments; applies updates, maintenance packs, patches, & fixes for all environments. * Performs application upgrades. * Maintains and manages database reporting infrastructure. Participates in design. * Monitors server performance and recommends changes as needed. * Mentors new DBA staff and provides training. * Works closely with developers, support and QA teams to maintain all DB environments. * Refreshes databases as needed by developers or functional teams. * Performs database administration activities including; installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, database backup and recovery, and disaster recovery. * May perform installation, configurations, and maintenance for clustered database servers. * Plans and performs database server upgrades. * Performs database reviews and provides input to database design. * Writes and reviews stored procedures. Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor?s degree preferred, higher level education a plus. * Minimum of five years of experience as a DBA; * Must be able to remain focused during changing priorities and get things done * An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS * A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization. Works on moderately complex and diverse projects. Exercises good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. * Able to design databases according to industry standards and make tuning recommendations. * Abe to write and optimize complex queries. * Advanced knowledge of database administration, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and systems analysis procedures. * Strong working knowledge of database software and operating systems. * Strong communication, writing, and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in development process. Strong presentation skills. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS * Generally, typical office setting with environmentally controlled conditions. At times, will work in low -temperature server rooms. * Able to work extended hours as business needs dictate. * May require participation in after hours support rotation.
