SQL Server DBA
|
Title: SQL Server DBA
Location: Australia-Bruce
Excellent opportunity for a Junior DBA who has experience in any of the following technologies, or is willing to learn; Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Sybase. This role will primarily support SQL Databases.
The SQL DBA will be responsible for the following:
* Maintain the RDBMS and ensure that the RDBMS are available for Application Database use
* Maintain and support any related Software, such as performance monitoring tools, data dictionaries, RDBMS-specific Applications development facilities, distributed data access facilities or End User query and reporting tools
* Provide support to End Users responsible for DBA in relation to RDBMS issues
* Perform diagnostics, repair and recovery of damaged or corrupted databases and files
* Tune and optimise the RDBMS to improve performance, reliability and space utilisation
* Support all Application-independent exits, procedures, tools, interfaces or other RDBMS customisations
* Maintain the RDBMS to maximise efficiency and minimise outage.
The Successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
* 1 year DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle or Sybase or DB2 and a willingness to gain experience in other database technologies.
* Experience with all roles & responsibilities of a database administrator - backups / restores, maintenance, installations, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning and optimisation.
* Participates in cross-functional teams.
* Consults with team members and other organizations, clients and vendors on complex issues.
* Understanding of ITIL and experience with incident, problem, change & release management.
* Strong problem management skills.
* Pro-active and willing to learn
* Strong customer focus
* Able to perform on-call duties.
Desirably you will have the following skills and experience:
* Experience working in an Enterprise Windows Server RDBMS environment
* Experience with multiple database technologies
* Knowledge and experience with Unix systems.
