SQL Server/Oracle Database Administrator Kelly IT Resources has an opportunity for a SQL Server DBA for a client in Detroit, Michigan. This position is an open ended contract. JOB DESCRIPTION: Working under the general supervision of the Technical Manager, will provide enterprise database support for all databases. Responsible for installing configuring, and maintaining database environments. Evaluates and installs patches and resolves database-related problems. Reports issues and documents events in accordance with established procedures. Works closely with developers. Ensures proper database backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Secondary responsibilities may include providing Windows 2003 / 2008 system administration support (e.g., working with AD, Group Policies, NTFS / shared folder rights, and troubleshooting). Preferred Technical Skills: - 8+ years of experience in database administration, development and support in enterprise database environments (SQL Server, Oracle) - Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues and security issues - Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools - Ability to detect and troubleshoot database-related issues involving CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention - Knowledge of database backups/restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, clustering, database mirroring, disaster recovery and replication - Experience in implementing operational automation on the database - Knowledge of indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, and patching.
