Sr Business Systems Analyst

The Sr. Business Systems Analyst possesses functional knowledge required to develop, implement and support solutions for the enterprise and CRP program. Solution types consist of clinical, research, administrative and finance applications with systems integration. The Sr. BSA is responsible for participating in functional and technical activities related to the assessment, acquisition, development and implementation of new systems, application programs and databases within the organization. Leading and/or participating in the analysis functional and technical requirements, and subsequent development, necessary to implement electronic Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) and Human Research Protection Program HRPP, at M. D. Anderson including data capture (EDC) solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Participates in and directs activities related to the assessment, acquisition, development, and implementation of new systems, application programs and databases.
' Initiates and leads sessions with multiple user groups to perform the following activities: database building, data collection, cataloging of gathered information and documentation of the agreed upon functionality specification.
' Assists in developing strategies (e.g. use of emerging technologies), policies (e.g. HIPAA compliance), procedures (e.g. change management, disaster recovery, backup, security) and standards (e.g. quality assurance, application development, production support, testing).
' Performs functional and technical assessments and evaluates proposed IT technologies and solutions to determine feasibility and compliance with industry and MDACC / PSCS standards.
' Adheres to any functional and technical development, configuration or process standards mandated by either MDACC / PSCS and provides justification for any deviation.
' Leads or provides project support for various MDACC committee meetings/presentations such as the Project Support and Coordination Services Project Reviews, the Information Technology Review Committee and the IT Governance Steering Committees.
' Communicates and works with business units to analyze and document current and future operational procedures. Identifies, data collection sources, data reporting sources while documenting potential enhancement areas for future implementation.
' Reviews, documents and validates current and future system capabilities to determine if additional system functionality is needed and possible.
' Analysis and documentation of current and future workflows using flowcharts, swim lanes, conceptual and physical flows and current graphical tool sets reflecting business processes.
' Prepares reports for the project team, business units and IT departmental units consisting of but not limited to instructional manuals, business reports, workflow reports, data reports and processing reports.
' Works with Senior ASA and technical staff to resolve project, system and application issues for pre, peri and post implementation.
' Mentors BSA and ASA project staff by leading meetings, making sound recommendation and assignment coordination of project tasks such at development, testing, installation and modification of application solutions.
' Accurately estimates work effort and costs required for project tasks and application support.
' Identifies and communicates issues and pain points to business areas.
' Creates solutions and makes recommendations based on customer and system strengths.
' Creates documents, validates and performs testing for project applications. Mentors BSA and ASA on testing procedures.
' Utilizes MDACC tools and processes for issue tracking, reporting and resolution.
' Works with the Project Manager and Resource Manager in assuring project schedule and deadline are adhered to while working with-in budget constraints.
' Promotes Project and institutional standards while communicating to customer and project teams.
' Lead and facilitation of project team meetings, client meetings, discovery meetings and application process in-services.
' Communicates in an effective manor both verbally and electronically using presentation technologies
' Is able to tactfully and clearly communicate with project sponsors, classified staff, clinical staff and clinical facility.
' Review, analysis and deconstructs legacy systems to understand functionality and operational workflows for enhancement or systems replacement.
' Has a good knowledge of technical concepts, application programming, database design, internet, intranet and other technologies such as client server to facilitate the analysis process.
' Is able to point out, document critical issues, pain points and offer sound technical processes solutions that are industry based
' The Sr. BSA proactively challenges others to develop there leadership skills while creating opportunities for BSA's and other project team members for successful task and project completion.
' Facilitates team meetings while engaging project team members for contributions and solutions.
' Work with business units to develop a deeper trust and relationship that will foster a productive analysis.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Seven years experience in healthcare software systems implementation and support, business/systems process analysis and design.
' Functional experience as a subject matter expert (Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Medical Technology, Health Information Management, Radiology, Human Resources, Patient Accounting, and Clinical Research etc.) may be substituted for one of the seven years of required experience.
' Experience in software product analysis and methodologies.
' Experience in the installation and maintenance of commercial application software products.
' Experience with basis productive software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
' Excellent verbal and written communication skills (i.e. speaking and email).
Preferred: Experience in an academic healthcare setting.
- Clinical trials management systems experience; experience workng in a clinical research domain.
