Sr. Business Systems Analyst

The Judge Group is currently in search of a Sr. Business Systems Analyst for a Fortune 500 Financial Client located in Malvern, PA.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

v  Provides experienced level of IT business needs analysis of applications/databases for mainframe-, client/server-, Web-, and/or PC-based software or middleware.  Works on critical systems with large numbers of interfaces and users.

v  Uses a variety of information gathering techniques (e.g., interviews) to determine system requirements and technology needs.  Leads requirements gathering sessions.  Maps work flows of internal client.  Ensures project addresses business needs and IT issues, such as security.  Identifies business assumptions and risks.  Communicates technical issues at appropriate level for audience. 

v  Translates business needs into system and software requirements, and writes Requirements documents and Use Cases.  Ensures testable, discreet requirements statements can be used by the test team. 

v  Participates in Change Control Board activities to ensure system specifications are met, and to identify the risks and interface issues that may result from approval or rejection of changes.  Coordinates submission of change management requests and verifies record assignment, tracking, and closure.

v  Coordinates activities with design team.  Writes use case documents and requirements.

v  Participates in Inspections and other client meetings throughout the project life cycle to identify issues.  Leads brainstorming meetings with clients.  Responds to functionality problems in a timely manner.  Rapidly identifies potential solutions, including the cost/benefit of each option.  Recommends solution to manager.

v  Assists the business lead with writing client documentation, including the acceptance test plan and user procedures.  Serves as backup tester for unit, systems, acceptance, and other tests.  Assists the technical writer with reviewing user and technical documentation.

v  Has a thorough understanding of client business functions, technology needs, tools, and other applications that interface with client systems.  Helps develop the business criteria used to evaluate IT vendor products.

v  Is highly functional on large, matrixed project teams.  Interfaces with developers, database administrators, project manager, project management office, and client users.

v  Effectively plans and estimates tasks.  Clearly communicates plan and revisions to plan with working team.  Trains and mentors staff with less experience.  Resolves the most complex issues elevated from staff with less experience.

v  Thoroughly understands and complies with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels.  Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Security policies and procedures.  Verifies deliverables meet Information Security requirements.

v  Complies with Retail Systems policies and procedures including attendance and weekly time and status reporting.   

v  Understands and adheres to Diversity mission and policies. 

v  Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


Technical Skills:  

 

v  Broad knowledge of the financial services industry

v  Expert knowledge of the following BSA practices and concepts:

  • Conversion and migration
  • User interface design, including navigation
  • Internal and external interfaces, feeds, batch jobs, and other events
  • Full project life cycle
  • System solution models and alternatives, including IT vendor evaluations
  • Security
  • Software capabilities and limitations, e.g., performance and design
  • Prototyping and use case scenarios
  • Benefits and risks of automating and changing processes -- on own and shared systems
  • Translation of business rules into computer logic, tables, on-line approvals, and maintenance schedules
  • Quality assurance methodology and Inspections
  • Thoroughly scoped functional requirements and documentation deliverables

v  Expert knowledge of one or more IT platforms: 

  • AS/400
  • Client/server
  • IBM mainframe
  • Microsoft Windows NT
  • OS/390
  • UNIX

v  Expert knowledge of current versions of the following products:

  • Lotus Notes
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Microsoft Project
  • Microsoft Visio
  • I-Grafix

v  Expert knowledge of current versions of the following products, preferred:

  • IBM Rational Requisite Pro

Other Competencies:  

v  Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience

v  Eight years BSA or systems analysis experience, including three years' technical writing experience, preferred

v  Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation and interviewing skills

v  Excellent analysis and problem solving skills

 

Candidates MUST HAVE experience within Investment Management AND experience within an Agile environment.
