Job Description: The Sr Cognos BI developer provides technical expertise in the use of Cognos 8 reports and Series 7 cubes. Responsible for end to end development including testing, deployments and production support of the Cognos reporting environment. Is responsible for integrating the reporting applications with the existing Plumtree portal. Candidate will work within a team of Cognos developers, ideally is able to mentor more junior developers and collaborate w/ senior developers. Cognos certification is a plus. Should be customer focused and have leadership skills to work diligently w/ different vendors to ensure all customer deliverables are prepared and submitted on time. Roles & Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for the Design, Development and Maintenance of various Reporting applications related to different business areas at DCMA. Complete Cognos BI Reporting tasks as per the schedule. Reports weekly status to relevant team leaders. Required Skills: ~ Candidate should have a min of 7-9 yrs of technical reporting/ database related background w/ at least 4 solid years of Cognos Reporting experience, preferably w/ 2 yrs in Cognos 8. ~Exp. in Cognos 8 reporting and data modeling, including report development in Report Studio and Ad Hoc report modeling for Query Studio. ~Exp. in Series 7 cube development and maintenance, knowledge of Analysis Studio is a plus. ~Provide expertise as DCMA moves into a Cognos 8 Dashboarding environment. ~Coordinate w/ database developers in the creation & maintenance of metrics utilizing Metrics Studio. ~Collaborate w/ Oracle database developers to troubleshoot reporting issues & in designing new reporting applications. ~Coordinate w/ application developers when creating a new reporting application in conjunction with a new application effort. ~Maintain development server environments. ~Exp. with Oracle SQL to troubleshoot reporting data integrity and performance issues. ~Performance tuning of reports created against transactional database. ~Provide expertise in designing Framework manager data models. ~Contribute to application and technical architecture analysis, design & implementation, & ensure BI product fulfills requirements. ~Develop BI application products and deliverables throughout development life cycle. ~Adhere to all quality management plans and standards by participating in quality management reviews. ~Understand specific application area from an industry, functional and technical perspective. ~Identify problems & notify supervisor?s attention w/ sufficient lead time. ~Identify changes in scope or work effort that could result in budgetary overrun or the missing of delivery dates. ~Min - BS or MA from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, w/ 7-9 years of professional experience; NACI (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation & must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Accordingly, U.S. Citizenship is required)
