More information about Thomson Reuters and its financial performance can be found on This is a position for a senior database developer to work on the design and implementation of database systems for the Lynx project.
* The Lynx project will deliver to Editorial a refresh in news production and publishing capabilities.
* These capabilities will be technology enablers for the Editorial vision to provide the world's most reliable, accurate and insightful news.
* The system will be architected as a set of loosely coupled components and services within an n-tier architecture and
this person will work closely with current development team to help design and implement data replication stragies, database maintenance plans, and database upgrade procedures

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Technical requirements analysis.
Design and create database replication processes
Collaboration with operations team to define and document database maintenance procedures
Automate database upgrade procedures
Lead database tuning process
Participation in architectural discussions and reviews.
Estimating work effort.
Participate in daily standups to review project status.
Active member of the solution delivery team.
Work closely with the core services architect to develop database replication, database maintenance, and upgrade procedures.
Develop design artifacts, including data flow diagrams and component diagrams"

Additional Information:

* 100% design and development for initial project phase. Support and maintenance responsibilities will be required post deployment.

Qualifications

Education: BS in computer science or equivalent. MS degree would be desired.

Required Skills:

5+ years SQL Server development
3+ DBA experience
Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008 experience (2008 preferred)
Experience with SQL Server transactional and merge replication
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services
2+ years experience in C#, .NET, development (recent experience).
Strong analytical, problem solving and planning skills
Comfortable in hands-on role developing in .Net and C#.
Must have strong experience with the following technologies: SQL, C#, .NET,
Team player, ability to work in global environment.
Excellent communication skills.

Desired Skills:

Experience with Oracle database development a plus.
Experience with full text search engines (FAST).
OOAD skills, expertise with design patterns including UML.
