Summary :
The Sr Engineer in Calibration, performs selection/management of reference standards used in the calibration of cGMP instrumentation, overseeing of vendor calibrations, development of standard operating procedures and training of calibration personnel on those procedures, serves as a process owner for calibration database. This role performs investigation of out-of-tolerance events arising from routine and non-routine calibration activities, and serves as a technical resource for process and/or product development activities, including internal, external and regulatory audit bodies. This position reports the Manager I, Quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these are primary responsibilities of the role and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned) :
• Oversees development and implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of test equipment and processes.
• Investigates system, tests, or process failures to determine root cause and impact on product and/or processes. Determines and implements appropriate actions to address the failure and its impact on affected products and/or processes.
• Develops and performs trending or data analysis to assure ongoing conformity of systems, processes, and products to specifications, standards, and/or government regulations.
• Develops and implements technically defensible standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of test equipment and processes.
• Maintains traceability of calibration standards to national or international standards.
• Assists in qualification contract calibration vendors.
• Utilizing project management techniques prepare and execute projects plans and schedules that consistently meet standards.
• Maintains, writes and revises standard operating procedures (SOPs), and trains calibration personnel on those procedures.
• Participates and leads in continuous improvement functions (Lean initiatives), which increase efficiency, solve problems, generate cost savings and improve quality.
• Serves as a technical resource for process and/or product development activities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for regulatory and auditing bodies.
Job Requirements
Job Requirements (Education and Experience ):
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years experience in quality calibration or electronics related field.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to use enterprise software (examples include: JDE, BPLM, Pilgrim, Trackwise, etc.)
Physical / Safety Requirements:
• Must be able to lift, push/pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds overhead.
• Must wear personal protective equipment, including respirator.
• May be required to work with pressurized equipment, hot surfaces.
• May be required to work in confined spaces.
• Duties may require work on nights and weekends.
• Position requires sitting for long hours, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
• Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office and calibration equipment is required
• Ability to qualify for Grade B area
