Sr Engineer-Network
• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 5 years of telecommunications and system engineering experience
• Experience supporting commercial, 24x7, Internet and customer-facing systems
• Experience with systems design including server farms and clustering in highly available and complex environments
• Experience with Oracle/Sun hardware, Solaris, BIND 9, F5/GTM
• Experience with LINUX and Infoblox DNS highly desirable
• Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 network services, global server load balancing, routing, and protocols
• Experience with system/kernel tuning, performance measurement and capacity planning
• Experience developing/maintaining support and automation tools on UNIX platforms including jumpstart and shell scripting
• Experience with leading cross-functional teams
• Experience with eHealth and Netscout
• Experience with vendor management
• Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills• Design, install and integrate high performance DNS systems in new and existing locations
• Perform hands-on system engineering which includes off-hour maintenance window work
• Provide requirements to other teams for the design and implementation of firewall policy, load balancer configuration, alarming, backups and other infrastructure configurations
• Prioritize multiple high-visibility projects and drive decisions and resolutions for unique problems that may not have existing or complete solutions
• Manage vendors including obtaining quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure their products and services meet organizational requirements and standards. Work with vendors to integrate systems into production
• Interact with cross functional teams within National Network Operations (NNO), Maintenance Engineering, Data Services, Security, Data Mediation, Revenue assurance and other organizations
• Create and maintain system documentation
• Submit NSRs, PSRs and all other requests necessary to bring the platform on the network
• Motivate and empower functional team members to stay on course and deliver projects on or before scheduled timelines
• Request authorization for funds, create Purchase Orders (PO's), and manage procurement activities using PeopleSoft Purchasing system. Ensure the value of the products and services received are in line with vendor pricing, PO's are in compliance with company procurement policies, and that invoices are paid on time
• Monitor and regularly report on platform demand and develop tactical plans and near term strategies for ensuring capacity of DNS platforms
• Benchmark DNS systems including evaluating next generation hardware
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of critical service impacting issues
• Provide leadership and subject matter expertise, train new team members, present to other groups as required
• This position requires business travel
