Position Description

Responsible for designing, developing and providing support for business intelligence applications. Design/develop Cognos Solutions using Cognos ReportNet and PowerPlay Series7; design/develop relational and multi-dimensional data models in Cognos Framework Manager and Transformer; Design/develop optimum multi-dimensional PowerPlay cubes and drill-thru cubes/reports; write PL/SQL stored procedures to source data to Cognos; write complex reports embedding Tabular SQL and Java Scripts; work in Oracle 10g/9i, SAP R/3 environment; write/edit XML scripts to maintain routine activities in Framework manager; design/develop complex reporting requirements using ReportNet Report Studio and/or Query Studio; Administer Cognos security using Access Manager; apply Access Manager security to reports; coordinate with ETL team in the development process; work with web team for portal integration; develop/adhere to Cognos solutions according to established BI development standards, best practices, quality and processes; tune report performance; develop/maintain BI operational and system level documentation.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related plus 5 years progressive post-Bachelors experience OR Masters degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related plus 3 years progressive post-Bachelors experience.

Experience (5 years with B.S. or 3 years with M.S.) must be in programming and application development in Business Intelligence or Data Warehousing.

Experience must include:
building Framework Manager, Transformer OLAP models
building ReportNet reports and Cognos PowerPlay cubes (Cognos Series 7)
Oracle databases 10g/9i, Structured Query Language (SQL), and PL/SQL
scripting in Java Script and XML
troubleshooting Cognos issues on Content Manager, Gateway etc.
providing Access Manager administration and production support
publishing reports in customized portal
scheduling and bursting of reports
analyzing and improving performance of reports
SAP R/3, SAP BW
migration (between environments and tools)
researching and implementing best practice solutions
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Requires knowledge of:
SQL Plus
Toad
Visual Source Safe
Documentum

Must possess Cognos certification.
