Sr Member of Technical Staff
Responsible for the reliability and quality of the delivered service and it's supporting platforms. Provides the technical leadership skills required to recover from complex network, server and application related problems in real time, directing the activities of technical resources from lower support tiers and vendors and to engage in-house developers and testers when needed to assist. Responsible for the investigation and management of all follow-up activities needed to determine root cause, attempt problem recreation in the lab, identify workarounds when feasible, coordinate with others for delivery and certification of vendor fixes or design changes.
Develop scripts and tools to pro-actively monitor performance and resource usage to identify potential future problems and platform needs. Develop scripts to extract log data from platforms and analyze to understand root causes. Work with the System Test team in developing tools to simulate system load in the lab to identify system limits and areas that require improvement.
Expertise in analysis and problem solving involving
complex, critical problems related to significant and unique issues. Use innovative methods in developing solutions and work on abstract problems requiring evaluation of possible alternatives.
Required Skills:
- BS (MS or PhD) degree in Engineering/Math/Science
- 4 years experience (3 with MS or 1 with PhD) in software development organizations with direct involvement in design, coding, test and trouble shooting.
- Excellent verbal & written communications skills to communicate highly technical concepts to wide-ranging audiences
- Strong experience with operating systems and programming environments such as Unix, Linux, J2EE, SDK's, C, C , Java, XML and DBMS's.
Desired Skills:
• Experience in Network Management (operation support, performance, troubleshooting, monitoring, optimization, protocols.
• Understanding of Layer 1, 2 and 3 Protocols
• Experience in network configuration and security (DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, re-homing, etc.).
• A strong understanding of security technology in the areas of VPN, firewalls, proxy, etc.
• Experience in wireless technologies, standards and protocols (WiFi, 3G).
• Knowledge of Vendor Management (feature roadmap, priorities, requirements, negotiations, bugs, maintenance releases, quality).
Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher degree such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mathematics from an accredited university.
- PhD in an approved field with no minimum years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
