Sr. Network and Security Engineer Unix Based Systems
You will join a tight-knit group of engineers who are enthusiastic about technology. Team members are expected to provide ideas and develop solutions for complex and interesting problems. Our team is expected to follow through and solve problems, even if it means analyzing packet captures for a week. You will need to eventually be able to troubleshoot production problems quickly and with ease. Our team members are expected to work in an open environment sharing information and ideas with coworkers and other internal groups.
The Network & Systems Security Engineer will be responsible for:
* Participating in designing, reviewing, and implementing strategic security initiatives * Taking part in security audits of applications and network infrastructure * Assisting with the management of the security of our global IP network * Researching and testing new technologies for inclusion in the network security portfolio
Qualifications * 2-4 years relevant experience * Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. * Proficient in network protocols like TCP/IP and HTTP * Working knowledge of firewalls, routers, proxies, load balancers, and UNIX-based systems * Working knowledge of network protocols like SSL, BGP, DNS, SNMP, VRRP * Working knowledge of Unix and Windows based operating systems * Working knowledge of scripting languages (python preferred) * Familiarity with security concepts and technologies such as IPS, VPNs, D/DoS * Familiarity with securing systems (e.g. common operating systems, network equipment) * Familiarity with common web architectures and related security risks * Familiarity with large scale networks * Ability to write technical specifications and operational documentation * Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. * A strong desire to learn while being able to complete tasks in a high-pressure environment * Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Computer Science or other computer-related specializations
