Summary of Job: The Sr. Network Engineer will perform functions such as designing and enhancing the network, evaluating and developing implementation plans, and helping with implementation of various systems on the network.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Test and evaluate products (hardware and software) to determine if they meet requirements for performance and functionality. * Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects. * Document steps listed above and provide support documentation, instruct Network Engineers and Administrators in proper support procedures and provide 3rd level support. * Sets up and maintains basic network operations, including assembly of network hardware, and provides assistance to the network engineer and administrator. * Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems. * Upgrades network hardware and software components as required. * Architect will work with vendors and other staff to troubleshoot issues with applications or hardware. * They will have the ability to solve complex problems with many variables. * Responsible for providing mentoring and coaching to network and operations staff. * Responsible for daily network operations, perform on-call duties, and other duties and tasks as required.
Special Requirements:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is mandatory. * Candidates should have a minimum of 8-10 years industry experience in a similar environment. * Excellent IP networking fundamentals and experience in the application of IP protocols. * In-depth knowledge of and experience with internet routing protocols; including but not limited to BGP and OSPF -In-depth knowledge and experience with router platforms; specifically with Cisco Nexus 5K and 7K, ASR 100X, ASR 900X, 65xx, platforms including all compatible supervisor and line cards for these platforms. * In-depth knowledge of and experience with firewall platforms; mainly with Fortinet, Juniper and Cisco ASA. * In-depth knowledge of and experience with Load Balancer platforms; specially with F5 and Brocade-Foundry. * Knowledge of the Cisco Unified Computing platform; specially the UCS chassis server, UCS 61XX manager, Nexus 1000V, and VM-ware is a plus. * Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills when it comes to network performance and capacity planning. Troubleshooting traffic engineering using BGP within large scale network design. * Ability to configuring Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and load balancers when needed * Candidates should also have had significant past experience with, and expertise in many of the following protocols & technologies: 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP/VRRP, LACP, TACACS, IPSEC, GRE & VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP. * Experience designing network and data-center installations from the ground up utilizing cisco vPC, OTV and other new L2 and L3 technology is highly desired. * Strong Unix skills and the ability to script in Perl, shell, and python is a plus. * Network certifications such as CCNP/CCIE/JNCIS/JNCIE (or equivalent training/experience) are preferred but not required.
