1) Key Overview:

This position is with the Siebel Service Application team in Baxter's Medical Products IT Division. The Siebel Service Application team manages the application build and delivery for our Global Technical Services Group.
The individual in this role will lead the following objectives:

• Serve as lead Oracle RAC DBA for Medical Products IT community.
• Participate in the Global IT DBA ""Community of Practice"", where lead DBA's from business support teams collaborate with Global IT DB leads on technology strategy, best practices, and consistent development & support processes across Baxter.
• Establish, plan, and lead ensuring best-practice implementation, consistency of architecture and optimization, and support processes within the Medical Products IT community and specifically the Siebel Service environment.
• Provide database optimization and troubleshooting support.
• Provide consultative and direct support for new database development and implementation and system development impacts to database design.
• Provide direction and support for database upgrades.
• Provide best-practices guidelines for database and large database (5TB+) performance tuning, logging, and backup.
• Provide 3 rd level support for existing DB systems/applications

This ideal candidate for this position will possess both deep technical knowledge of Oracle database systems utilizing RAC and ASM and peripheral support, as well as leadership abilities to drive project design and build activities, and interact with Global IT teams, vendors, and business customers.

2) Detailed Description:

Provide technical leadership in delivering and supporting application solutions for complex business requirements. Provide technical direction in the quality and delivery of business system commitments on schedule, within prescribed resource limits and in accordance with client requirements and departmental standards.

The Siebel Application Database Administrator leads all aspects of the delivery of database related activity in the delivery of Siebel solutions to meet business requirements. Siebel application DBA will be involved in: interfaces, conversions, HW/SW oversight (selection, sizing, configuration recommendation & execution), tuning of activities, planning project needs at the database level, selection and implementation of patches and working with development team to outline appropriate testing strategies. Works with development team to ensure business needs are translated into systems that support the needs. Works with both the development team and support teams to identify maintenance and support processes for management of the Siebel environment.

3) Essential Responsibilities

Participate in and contribute to large, complex and diverse projects, with minimal guidance, own assigned tasks and assist with tasks assigned to others working on the same project. Partner with business and other IT teams to complete work. Mentor and train others. Resolve complex system problems. Participate in technical reviews.

•Design, implement and support advanced and diverse application solutions that address complex business requirements, following SDLC processes, application processes and quality validation (when appropriate) for large projects.

•Provide technical leadership for other application developers on all system development activities. Develop project plans and time estimates for tasks in a project. Train and mentor less experienced programmers.

•Evaluate and recommend products and systems solutions in key application areas to IT management. Integrate applications into Baxter's existing technical environment.

•Develop, prepare, review and document test requirements and test data for complex system testing.

•Provide support for production systems, and implement speedy resolutions in partnership with the business.

•Consult, recommend alternatives and participate with IT and business teams to help set strategic application direction related to business changes.

•Lead the technical application architecture and system integration tasks. Participate in post-installation application reviews and lessons learned sessions. Develop programming standards or processes.

•Work cooperatively with technical or application personnel across IT to accomplish enterprise-wide goals. Identify and implement process improvements in the application architecture and/or infrastructure of the existing systems.

•Participate with the business or function in strategic, long-range planning for new or existing systems and technologies.

•Participate in the building of new and on-going application vendor relationships. Provide input for contract negotiations and difficult integrations.

•Provide expertise in developing and maintaining an ongoing maintenance and support plan for Siebel.

Job Requirements

•Expert in Oracle RAC 11g

•Expert in RAC cluster maintenance, troubleshooting and best practices

•Expert in installing, configuring and adding new RAC nodes on 11g

•Expert in configuring services on RAC to maintain good work load management for Siebel or any other applications

•Expert in ASM installs, upgrades, maintenance and best practices

•Expert in Database Patching and upgrades especially with RAC

•Expert in General overall database tuning

•Expert in Siebel specific application database tuning and working with Siebel developers to fine tune application

•Expert SQL writing skills and SQL writing recommendations for application that are highly tuned for optimum performance

•Expert with Grid control, OEM and any other third party monitoring tools for the database

•Solid experience with Unix especially Solaris 10 knowledge

•Solid PL/SQL coding and troubleshooting experience

•Solid experience in scaling database requirements to accommodate global rollout based on feedback related to data growth requirements from application team

•Sound understanding of storage techniques and various SAN technologies that support database structures

•Experience with Global deployments with Siebel preferred.

•Basic knowledge of FDA Validation preferred.

•Basic knowledge in ITIL/Six Sigma preferred.

Education

•Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science or a related field with systems experience preferred.

•8+ years of systems experience in developing and/or supporting applications to solve business problems.

•10+ years of Oracle database administration experience

•8+ years of experience with UNIX

•5+ years in a technical leadership role.

•Oracle database certification preferred.

•Must have expert proficiency in one or more application languages or tools, as well as broad knowledge in relevant ERP technology.
