Overview:
The Sr. Storage Area Network (SAN) / Network Attached Storage (NAS) Architect specializes in the design and architecture for the overall strategy and tactics of the SAN fabrics, storage subsystems and NAS devices and shares.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
SAN/NAS Architect includes, but is not limited to the following activities:
Proven ability to lead and provide vision for a team of storage and backup engineers and provide leadership and drive desired outcomes.
Demonstrate a history of setting strategic direction including working with vendors leading to a stable and predictable storage environment.
Follow through on projects to provide the most cost effective solutions and ability to meet timelines and expected outcomes.
Work with the storage team to identify areas of opportunity for consolidation and unification of vendors and technology.
Troubleshooting an end-to-end resolution of identified (hardware/software/configuration) issues, including failed disk drives, power supplies, performance, capacity, connectivity, transmission errors.
Coordination and/or installation/implementation of new SAN/NAS equipment.
Creation and administration of fabric configurations such as device aliases/fcaliases, zones and zonesets.
Planning and implementing SAN/NAS equipment firmware and OS updates/upgrades.
Creation and administration of RAID groups, storage groups, aggregates, volumes, LUNs and the provisioning of these to client hosts (Windows, UNIX, ESX)
Capacity management and planning
Work with other teams, such as Backup team to implement/support Information Life Cycle Management (ILM) strategies/implementations.
Strong knowledge of data protection, including backups, archiving and snapshots, de-duplication and replication.
Requirements:
Must have at least 5 to 7 years of solid SAN/NAS Architecture experience in enterprise wide SAN/NAS environments.
In-depth knowledge in any of the following SAN/NAS storage subsystems: EMC CX/NS4-480/120, NetApp, Compellent.
Primary expertise on Cisco MDS, followed by Brocade SAN switches
Desired knowledge/experience with Onstor NAS gateways, Nexsan SATABeasts, and DataDomain.
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with counter-parts within the client project, TeleTech, partnership and industry.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, manufacturer technical documents, and governmental regulations pertaining to SAN/NAS Compliancy policies.
Able to write technical reports, procedures and correspondence that are clearly understood.
BA degree in Computer Science/MIS or equivalent work experience is preferred.
Desired Skills:
Knowledge and experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Virtual Desktop Integration (VDI), IBM PowerVM or working with teams that have implemented these solutions on SAN/NAS environments.
Strong experience with host side configurations and connectivity on Windows, UNIX and ESX hosts. This includes experience in installation and configuration of HBAs and associated firmware/drivers and scanning and configuration of LUNs/Volumes.
Additional Requirements:
Candidates must be US Citizens and take part in a clearance process.
Must participate in 24/7 on-call rotations
