Project Description:
Our client provides IT support to the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) in Suitland, MD. Systems include support for Windows, UNIX, VMWare and Storage Area Networks.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Senior position for Java software engineer for development, maintenance or extension of various Java applications and software components. All systems operate in a JBOSS J2EE environment in a high-volume transaction processing environment requiring robust 24x7 secure operations. Ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of JBOSS J2EE environment, Java Messaging System (JMS), XML, and Oracle. Understanding of PKI concepts and use of encryption and integrity mechanisms (e.g., MD5 or SHA-1) is highly desirable. Familiarity with web service development and user interface development using Eclipse IDE, Spring, Hibernate, LDAP, and Apache Slide (WebDAV) is also a plus.
Possess outstanding communication and leadership skills. Leads, defines, and executes software engineering activities within a project. Activities may consist of development planning, performance management, capacity planning, testing and validation, benchmarking, information engineering, and development and staffing. Responsibilities include participation in the technical review/evaluation of various projects, generation of formal presentations, and maintenance of thorough and accurate documentation.
Required Skills:
? Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or related discipline) with 5 years experience in software development, or Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or related discipline) with 7 years experience in software development. ? Strong Java J2EE programming skills applied in complex systems. ? Relational database experience (preferably Oracle) using SQL via JDBC. ? Ability to perform any/all tasks within the software lifecycle (design, development, unit/class testing, maintenance, documentation. ? Ability to function as part of a development team to include the use of a version control system.
Desirable Skills:
? Experience with JBOSS configuration and deployment ? Familiarity with PKI-enabled Java applications ? Web Service development experience ? Eclipse IDE experience ? Experience using CVS or SVN as a member of a development team ? Spring and Hibernate ? Exposure to UML design constructs (Use Cases and Class diagrams) ? Experience with WebDAV ? Image processing and JPEG formats ? LDAP experience ? Solaris 10 system administration and familiarity with Solaris 10 zones.
