Job Description All qualified candidates MUST have the following: 1. 5 plus years experience with Linux C++ Development Environment 2. Experience with OOA/OOD. 3. Experience writing multi-threaded applications using pthreads 4. Experience in configuring embedded Linux kernel for commercial distribution 5. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Not required but would be a plus: 1. Experience with Regulatory Requirements. 2. Experience with complex distributed systems. 3. Experience interfacing with embedded systems 4. Background in the design of fire safety equipment.
Daily Tasks: Assist design and implementation of required functionality in an embedded Linux system, reporting and investigating defects to project management. Designs, develops, and implements new products and supports existing products for the fire alarm market. Independently and under the guidance of a more senior level engineer, designs and implements software solutions for embedded products. Plans and conducts projects of medium complexity, independently and under general supervision, and participates in major projects. This may include organizing, delegating, and reviewing the work of more junior level engineers. Recommends changes in procedure, design or equipment where necessary. Schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications and identifies resource issues which will affect the schedule. Tracks and reviews project status with management. Coordinates the activities of lower level engineers to bring the project to successful completion. Mentors lower level engineers on all duties. Occasionally travels to field locations by plane or car (5%) to troubleshoot product problems. Participates in the development of test strategies for devices and systems.
