The Senior Technical Writer/Editor is responsible for researching, writing, revising, and maintaining all technical documentation products delivered by PSS Documentation Services including: * online help systems * user guides * installation guides * release notes * product flyers * training manuals * product alerts * others as required
Key responsibilities/duties, specific to products for which this position provides Technical Writing support and to be performed with minimal direction or supervision, include: * Investigate, research, and document technical information pertaining to assigned SARs. * Research, write, format, revise, proofread, and maintain technical documentation products. * Write technical documentation products to applicable standards (MSTP, Chicago Manual of Style, exceptions). * Support the assigned Senior Technical Editor/Writer in the following tasks (if required/as necessary): ? estimate/negotiate scope and time tables ? assist with documentation reviews ? create and maintain standards for formats, templates, copyrights, logos, naming conventions, and directory structures ? coordinate with the other Pearson sites and/or the offshore development team (Pearson Development Center) for execution (when applicable) ? serve as liaison between the other Pearson sites and/or the offshore development team (Pearson Development Center), and between Documentation Services and projects and/or product teams ? serve as coordinator of all technical documentation deliverables submitted for production; work takes place in several locations (Mesa, AZ; Bloomington, MN; Folsom, CA; Burnaby, BC Canada; and at the Pearson Development Center in India)
The Senior Technical Writer/Editor is part of the team that has the following measurements of success: * Meet all commitments (current and follow-on) for the assigned programs. * Commit to quality in all aspects of development and product delivery. * Improve the performance of the team to provide a higher level of service at lower cost.
Qualifications:
* Five or more years of technical writing/editing experience. * Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Thorough command of English grammar and usage. * Ability to work with product/project management, subject matter experts, project personnel, and support groups with little or no supervision. * Experience working on multidisciplinary teams and in solving problems with others. * Ability to work in multitasking environment. * Ability to work under pressure and meet rigid deadlines with fast turnaround times. * Familiarity with industry-standard style guides, such as MSTP and The Chicago Manual of Style. * Knowledge of the software development process. * Bachelor's degree in English or related field.
