Position Description Develop high-quality technical documentation by working with writers and engineers to scope, design, develop, edit, and publish technical content and collateral as directed by lead information developers and IDD management.?Interactively contribute to and drive the documentation creation and maintenance process by:odefining documentation deliverables and creating preliminary documentation plans and schedules for assigned nerating documentation design specifications and conducting review meetings as rticipating in engineering meetings to review project-specific requirements and specifications documentation and obtaining additional product and feature information.?Under direction of IDD Manager and lead information developers, take ownership of assigned projects, follow through to complete the product cycle, and report accurate and timely status for all assignments.?Publish final documentation to appropriate mediums.?Work with reviewers to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of content according to prescribed project deliverables and schedules.?Become a subject matter expert on the product being documented, as well as make recommendations to improve technical information based on target audiences.?Possess a can-do attitude to balance work volume, set limits, and project deadlines, while prioritizing to maintain and deliver quality work.?Judge the severity of issues and appropriately escalate to management.?Collaborate with writers and editors in all locations to ensure adherence to the prescribed style guide for the seamless flow of information to our customers. ?Participate in peer reviews and incorporate feedback into documentation materials.?Write and edit product notices such as release notes and readme files.?Contribute to product refinement by participating in activities such as reporting UI defects and taking an active role in indexing workshops and usability sessions.?Monitor the problem tracking database to identify documentation problems or changes and trends in product usability issues. Ensure logged defects are resolved in the next release of the documentation. Position Requirements Desired Skills:?Minimum 4 - 6 years' experience developing technical documentation for system administrator and other technical audiences.?BA degree, certificate, or equivalent experience in English, Journalism, Technical Communications, Professional Writing, Marketing, or Public Speaking; or BS degree (with a writing background) or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or Human Factors.?Highly proficient with accepted industry-specific publishing tools, such as Windows XP, Word, FrameMaker, FrameScript, WebWorks, XML, Adobe Acrobat, Documentum, and graphics packages, such as Paint Shop Pro, and so on.?Detail-oriented, problem-solver, self-starter requiring minimal oversight, with flexibility and good follow-through skills.?Thorough understanding of document and software development life cycles as well as project management and software development methodologies.?Strong commitment to teamwork and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.?Excellent technical writing skills. ?Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively work with global and culturally diverse departments and groups.?Experience writing documentation for industry-specific and internet-based technologies, Web and application servers, or client-server applications and technologies. ?Characteristics: professional, high energy, strong technical aptitude, diplomatic, decisive, strong negotiator, independent, flexible, detail-oriented, and agent of cial Qualifications:?Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.?Recent experience developing XML-based documentation.
