Description:
The Staff Network Design Engineer is responsible for supporting customers (fully managed and technical support) in all firewall-VPN matters which cannot be resolved by Tier I and Tier II personnel. The ideal candidate will be well versed in a variety of firewall-VPN technologies and will be available during regular business hours and on-call at all other times. The Engineer will implement and audit network infrastructure and security for improvements in routing technologies.
Staff Network Design Engineer is expected to work with SS7 and TCP protocols, routing, switching and security to include IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems) and firewalls. He/She also works with multiple network technologies in connectivity, VPN, T1/E1, DS3 and Frame Relay.
Qualifications:
-Bachelors Degree with 7-10 years job related experience in production network.
-Experience with Tier III support for Firewall, VPN and Routing related issues.
-Experience with Tier III support for Layer II - Switching related issues.
-Experience with Tier III support of VSS, BGP and GLSB.
-Experience with monitoring and maintaining IDS systems.
-Experience with implementing upgrades and changes to infrastructure.
-Experience with supporting provisioning/activation of VPN tunnels.
-Experience with supporting network routing changes and multiple connections in a secured environment.
-In depth understanding of firewall and IDS theories, concepts and terminologies.
-In depth understanding of TCP/IP and TAP Routing Fundamentals.
-Experience with VPN design and troubleshooting.
-Experience with Cisco ASA and Cisco PIX FW/VPN devices.
-Experience with Cisco/Nortel Application Switches to include Layer-5 load balancing.
-Knowledge of security concepts and current threats/vulnerabilities.
-Ability to work with internal and external customers globally.
-Ability to take ownership for large projects and multi-task across a broad range of disciplines.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Experience/knowledge in SS7 and SMPP telecommunication protocols will be an added advantage.
