The Staff Software Engineer will lead small team(s) of software engineers to develop and maintain software products in a team environment. Includes design, specification, coding, and unit testing. Work with other departments as needed to meet specifications and support other department's requirements.
This position is to provide software engineering support to the Integrated Systems group, and would initially be focused on Network Sensor integration. The Primary responsibility is to lead a team of software engineers to develop, maintain, and test software solution for the company product line. This work includes, but is not limited to software modeling, development of architecture, and implementation of code features. Teamwork is an essential part of this position as well as the ability to communicate ideas in written and verbal form. The specific software engineering skills required to perform this role will change as the technology evolves and the employee must track and adapt to new technologies. The successful candidate will act as a key contributor to the software and systems required by our product lines, as well as provide support to customer facing projects and support our customer service function.
Requirements
Qualifications include: .BA/BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent .7+ years of direct and demonstrable Software Engineering experience .Experience with full lifecycle software development, including activities related to design, implementation, test and qualification of Software. .Experience leading software engineering teams .Languages: Java, JavaScript, C/C++, C# .Web-based user interface development experience using Java, AJAX, JDBC, JNI, and JSON and JavaScript libraries (YUI, JQUERY) .Experience with Code signing, ActiveX web enabling, SSL and HTTPS certificates .Experience using web servers such as Tomcat or other J2EE servers .Database development experience (SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL) .Operating Systems Knowledge: Windows XP/Vista/7, Linux (CentOS/RedHat), (WinCE and Solaris a plus) .Platforms: Intel x86, Freescale/ARM, SPARC .Integrated Development Platforms: Eclipse, Visual Studio, Code Warrior .Experience developing software applications communicating with multiple distributed TCP/IP and serial based devices .Good verbal/written communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
Skills preferred, but not required: .Embedded SW development experience in WinXP/WinCE and Linux development experience working a government programs .EE or Electronics Technician course work .Ability to assist hardware and systems engineering in debug of hardware at the hardware/software interface level .Experience with logic analyzer, oscilloscope and digital volt-ohm meter and other test equipment
