Secret clearance is a must - Required certification: Security (or equivalent IAT Level II certification), Computer Operating System (VMWare Preferred)
- Desired certifications: CCNA, MSCE or MCTIP:EA, A , Network , VMware Certified Professional
- Desired Education: Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Must be proficient in Microsoft server operating systems (Windows Server 2003/2008), backup software (Symantec Backup Exec), and building and configuring new servers for redundancy and high availability.
- Knowledge of ITIL and/or USMC operational processes desired
- Strong leadership skills
- Work is aboard MCB Quantico VA
- Ability to start ASAP (within two weeks or less)
Key duties:
Systems Administrator requirements:
- Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of a virtualized environment using VMWare, including SharePoint and other USMC GOTS applications
- Identify and troubleshoot server performance, availability, capacity or configuration problems. Reallocate resources and perform system optimization as required.
- Manage system resources including performance monitoring, capacity planning, and generation of availability statistics, ensuring serviceability and planning for recovery.
- Perform software and database backups.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server connectivity problems.
- Determine probable causes of system failure or non-performance and recommend changes to prevent future failure. Install software (including operating system), hardware peripherals and necessary drivers.
- Perform server back-up administration, to include backing up data daily and ensuring servers can be restored to production capacity with minimal down time.
- Plan and execute as needed disaster and lost data recovery (system crashes, fire, flood, etc.).
Virtualization requirements:
- Researching, designing, and deploying VMware's ESX servers and virtual center on servers connected to an EMC SAN utilizing VMware's Virtual Infrastructure Methodology (VIM) to guide the project
SAN Management requirements:
- Research, planning, and redesigning of the layout (SAN topology and LUN) and migration plan for existing SAN data, file share documents, network user profiles, and storage solutions.
Experienced in:
- VMware: ESX 2.5.x, 3.0.x, 3.5.x, VSphere 4.0 Virtual Center 1.5.x, 2.0.x, 4.0, and Workstation 5.x, 6.x, VMware Server, VMware Player, Converter, and VMware Fusion.
- Storage: EMC Clarion CX3-xx CX4-xx, EMC AX series
- Databases: MySQL and SQL Server.
- Windows Server: NT, 2000, 2003, 2008, SharePoint 2003, 2007, 2010, Terminal Server 2003, RDS, IIS, DHCP, DNS, AD, Exchange 2003, 2007.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and administering Active Directory, domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, backup operations, patching/software deployment and antivirus
- Support for issues entered in the Help Desk ticketing system including end-user support
- Server lifecycle management including server deployment, inventory/asset tracking, hardware refresh/break-fix and system disposal
- Maintaining server team operational procedures and documentation (patch management, backup operations, antivirus, change management)
- Ability to plan for infrastructure and operational changes such as server and infrastructure upgrades
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: 5 years of experience in the following:
- Platform Migration and Deployments: Software and hardware installation, configuration, web server support, installation and maintenance of Windows operating systems (Windows Server 2008), Exchange, IIS, SQL Server, Microsoft
- Office SharePoint Server (MOSS and 2010), Windows 2000/2003/Windows 7, and desktop configuration
- Networking: Networking protocols, network design, backups, security, monitoring, hardware load balancing technologies and change control procedures
