Position Summary:
Defines, designs, and implements network
communications and solutions
using the Linux platform. Proposes
and implements system enhancements
(software and hardware updates)
that will improve the performance and
reliability of our regional
IT infrastructure. Provides local day to day
support to local as
well as global employees, in addition to helping our
IT Service
Desk and other groups where applicable. He/She is involved
in
regional IT projects, hardware procurement, system
planning,
upgrading, monitoring, testing, troubleshooting and
servicing. He/She
is responsible for day to day management of the
data center facilities,
coordinating with the vendor, cabling,
racking and stacking, and
assisting other IT groups with local
data center activities.
Requirements
Uses professional concepts; applies company
policies and procedures to
resolve a variety of issues. Works on
problems of moderate scope
where analysis of situations or data
requires a review of a variety of
factors. Exercises judgement
within defined procedures and practices to
determine appropriate
action.
Communicates highly technical information to both
technical and
non-technical personnel. May participate in
development of IS/IT
projects. May conduct training programs to
educate staff on
applications and IS/IT processes. Applies
company policies and
procedures to resolve routine
issues.
Requires a minimum of two (2) years UNIX/Linux
experience, and
administration of systems in a Corporate /
Academic environment. Ideal
candidate would possess RHCE. Solid
understanding of networking
required. Strong Linux troubleshooting
skills required. Foreign language
skills are a plus (Spanish),
fluent English a requirement. Strong fundamental
knowledge of
data center environments, cabling, racks, cooling, power,
etc.
Ability to work independently, under minimal supervision
a must have.
Strong customer service, communication and
documentation skills, as well
as ability to interact and
communicate with team members globally
required. Candidate must be
a team player, and able to work under remote
supervision.
Candidate must possess strong computer ethics, as this
position
will be dealing with company confidential data. Position
requires
some 'off hours' work, and travel to other Red Hat offices
as
needed (approximately 25% travel). Technical BS or BA degree
