System Technician Associate - Server Back-Ups
Title: System Technician Associate - Server Back-Ups
Location: TX: TEXAS-AUSTIN
CSC is seeking a System Technician to maintain backup equipment hardware, analyze tape usage, report problems to senior management, coordinate back-up and recovery of server data for the Financial Services Group (FSG) Austin site, coordinate with Iron Mountain to ensure backup tape delivery, ensure new equipment has sufficient infrastructure to be hosted, participate in SAS70, SOX and State audits as required by customers, and interface with customers to ensure requirements are met. Experience with Brightstor, NetBackup, and Wintel are heavily preferred; experience with Veritas and Unix are preferred. Hours will vary with rotating shifts since the Austin, Texas site must have 24 X 7 coverage.

Essential Job Functions:
* Tests, troubleshoots, installs, calibrates, repairs and modifies systems to ensure reliable functioning.
* Maintains end-user computer systems, telephone equipment, and others as assigned.
* Assists in procuring and tracking hardware and software. Provides technical training to the end-user community to ensure high quality customer service.
* Performs internal installation, preventive maintenance, routine repair, and calibration of company's products and equipment. Maintains end-user systems.
* Follows developed operating procedures and maintains record of work within the help desk ticket system.
* Acts as a liaison with the customer on routine technical and service problems to ensure that customer needs are met.
Basic Qualifications:
* High school diploma or G.E.D.
* Four or more years of technical support experience
* Experience working with company products and operating systems
* Experience working with computer-related technical problems
* Experience working with company escalation policy


Other Qualifications:
* Good interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members
* Communication skills
* Organization skills to balance and prioritize work
* Good analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot systems problems
* Basic training skills
* Communication skills for communicating with support personnel, customers, and managers
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Server backup experience required
* Experience with Brightstor, NetBackup, Wintel, Veritas, and Unix preferred
