Position Title Systems Administrator Location VA - FAIRFAX-FAIR LAKES NORTH (VAS003) Clearance Required No Daily Responsibilities
* Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Helpdesk Operations.
* Maintains the operating system and utility software on all computer platforms (Windows 2003/2008 domain, SQL, tape backup, Active Directory, Group Policy, IIS, Citrix, Exchange, servers, etc.) by analyzing, designing, programming, installing, scripting, testing and documenting new operating system program utilities and hardware to ensure production machines are available and computer systems development can be performed.
* Knowledge of Windows 2000 operating system ideally Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.
Technician should have a good understanding of server and desktop hardware and can perform printer maintenance, setup blackberry devices, create accounts, assign file permissions, assist in computer setup and image new hardware.
Assists with RMAs and service calls to various vendors.
Knowledge of hardware and/or software products required including Office, PGP, AntiVirus. Knowledge of Remedy or a ticket system is a plus.
Must have strong communication and customer service skills and be able to effectively communicate technical issues.
When needed, attend internal customer meetings to gather requirements for new technologies or configurations. Design, test, and implement new technologies across the SRA enterprise suite of applications. Work with vendors to negotiate viable solutions and troubleshoot problems. Provide technical recommendations and support for internal initiatives.
* Must be able to participate in an on-call pager rotation.
