Systems Administrator II - Apple & Windows
Our client, a renowned electronics manufacturer, is seeking a Systems Administrator II to support their site in Lake Forest, CA. The Systems Administrator II will support the growth of the client by providing hardware/software administration support for various new and existing applications. This role will optimize various applications and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning supported applications and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead, coordinate, and participate in key process improvements for responsible applications throughout the client site. • Participate in the design and review of new systems and application deployments in both workstations and servers. • Perform system and application configuration and management. • Support other application development teams throughout project lifecycles. • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, including end user desktop PCs and Macs. • Ensure that assigned Systems/Applications workstations and servers comply with established policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines. • Define and perform system backups and recovery procedures to ensure full Application retrieval. • Monitor and test system/application performance; provide statistics and reports. • Define and implement strategies for integrating disparate systems/applications. • Recommend and execute modifications to systems/applications in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance. • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure system security. • Review and deploy new systems/application service packs, hot fixes, system updates, and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices. • Develop and maintain systems/application training materials and systems documentation for educating end users and new IT staff.
REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's Degree in related field and Certification preferred. A 2-year degree or certification with a combination of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree. • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience required. • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Apple XSAN, Apple Xserves and Raids, Quantum Stornext, Windows servers, and RHEL 5.0+ • Strong technical knowledge of Linux, Windows, Mac Operating Systems • Working technical knowledge of building and supporting LTO tape archives • Strong familiarity with DNS, TCP/IP, Ethernet and fiber cabling • Strong familiarity with QLogic fibre channel switches Strong familiarity of Cisco switches Strong familiarity of network security • Strong familiarity of Mac OS X Directory Services • Familiarity with Digital Asset Management • Basic understanding of post-production workflow • Strong understanding of the organization s goals and objectives. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. • Ability to conduct research into systems/applications issues and products as required. • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language. • ACSA + XSAN or ACMA preferred but not required
