ACS Operations Management - Provide comprehensive 7X24 monitoring and management service on customer environments to improve availability and performance. Utilize a personalized service management platform integrated with Oracle Premier Support and Development that leverages ITIL methodology, across a global customer base, and wide range of technologies, including Oracle's Exadata platform.

Brief Description

As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs. This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical questions regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services. A primary point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated issues.

Detailed Description

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will interface with the customer*s IT staff on a regular basis. Either at the client*s site or from a remote location, you will be responsible for resolution of moderately complex technical problems related to the installation, recommended maintenance and use and repair/workarounds for Oracle products. You should be highly experienced in some Oracle products and several platforms that are being supported. You will be expected to work with only general guidance from management while advising management on progress/status.

Job Requirements

Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. Because of substantial customer interfacing, a demonstrated ability to work with customers on an independent basis with exceptional communication skills, while consistently achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction is essential. A Bachelor*s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred with five years related experience. Experience with Oracle*s core products, applications, and tools is important.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Candidate should have 10-15 years of experience as a UNIX system administrator with 2-3 years of experience in a technical leadership role. Candidate will have a strong command of customer interactions and have the ability to drive technical discussions. Having a strong sense of ownership and urgency in handling critical incidents is important in this role. Ideally, the candidate will possess strong communication skills, a high level knowledge of Solaris and Linux operating system administration, and be highly proficient at the UNIX command line. In addition, the ideal candidate will have high proficiency in UNIX operating systems (Solaris, Linux), system tuning, backups, highly available infrastructures (Sun Cluster Server, Oracle/RAC), SAN administration, and backup infrastructures (NetBackup). On call and weekend work is expected.

DESIRED SKILLS
ß Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
ß Strong customer service skills.
ß 10-15 years of UNIX Systems administration experience.
ß Excellent verbal and written communication skills
ß Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast paced environment
ß Scripting experience (Perl, CSH, BASH, etc.)
ß 5+ years SAN Administration
ß 5+ years supporting UNIX administration for database environments
ß Experience with Web technologies (Apache, Tomcat)

DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS
ß Solaris Certified Systems Administrator Certification.
ß Red Hat Certified Technician / Engineer.

DELIVERABLES

Candidate will be responsible for delivering UNIX administration and engineering services to customers within the Oracle Operation Management group. The candidate will also be responsible for interacting with customer counterparts on a regular basis and serving as the technology expert on the customer's behalf. This service is delivered via remote support and the candidate should be able to work in an independent environment while interacting with other team members remotely.


ADDITIONAL DELIVERABLES

? Perform installation, customization and maintenance of the operating system and system software products in support of business requirements
? Perform system software maintenance and product upgrades.
? Evaluate and integrate new operating system versions, drivers and hardware.
? Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
? Conduct system analysis, configuration management and develops improvements for system software performance, availability and reliability.
? Perform incident resolution, problem determination and root cause analysis in accordance with service level agreements.
? Provides in-depth diagnosis for operating systems software/hardware failures and develops solutions.
? Implement and maintain appropriate levels of system security.
? Provides technical expertise for system transitions, migrations and consolidations.
? Provides technical assistance and guidance to IT support staff, including but not limited to, DBAs, network engineers, other system administrators, project managers, change managers and business development staff
? Conduct project management activities for new system requirements on various projects for deployment of business functions on new servers.
? Outstanding written and verbal communication skills


DRESS CODE

There is no formal dress code for this position, however the candidate will be required to follow customer dress codes in the event that they will be asked to travel to the customer site.

TRAVEL

Travel may be required on a quarterly basis or as needed at the customer's request. The candidate should not expect any more than 5% travel in this position. The candidate should have a valid passport and have the ability to travel internationally.

OVERTIME

The candidate should not expect to have to work overtime on a regular basis, but may be required on an as needed basis.

TRAINING

The candidate should expect to go through 2 weeks of internal training before starting their day-to-day job. This training will be required to learn the tools and processes used to support our customers. The candidate may also be asked to travel to one of our sites for a portion or entirety of this training period.
