Description
We are seeking a skilled systems and application support analyst to join the Asset Allocation Technology (AAT) team. In this role you will work with management to create a strategy and implementation plan for production services, assist in implementing methods to manage the production and non-production environments. You will be accountable for Service Delivery (Service Level Compliance, Application Availability and Disaster Contingency), Incident Management, level 2 application support, release management, automation of manual processes.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team who provides end to end support for Asset Allocation Division trading/operations, research, portfolio management and quantitative applications and their underlying technology infrastructure. This team supports applications for Asset Allocation Division investment professionals in Boston in a 24 X 7 operating environment.
Asset Allocation Division (AAD) is a registered investment adviser and wholly owned subsidiary of FMR LLC, providing discretionary and non-discretionary investment management services through Fidelity's retail and institutional distribution channels. In addition to investment management, AAD specializes in investment risk management, portfolio analytics, asset/liability modeling, and internet investment planning tools for individual investors. Proprietary investment tools include Retirement Income Planner which formulates a customized plan for income in retirement and suggests specific steps to increase likelihood of having lifetime income, and Portfolio Review, which assesses the investment characteristics and risks of a client's portfolio, as well as analyzes possible portfolio strategies that clients model and select.
Primary Responsibilities
* Maintaining and enhancing existing multi-tiered business applications
* Assist in coordinating technical tasks of various infrastructure support teams responsible for the distributed components of the application
* Provide 24 x 7 on-call support for the application portfolio on a rotating basis (flexibility to cover for team members as needed.)
* Manage day-to-day interactive and batch processing operations
* Ensure high availability of production applications
* Resolve production problems including data issues, product enhancements, and service interruptions
* Provide application support when needed on weekends and early evenings
* Work with the development teams in the transition of new application functionality from the development/UAT/production warranty phases to the full production support model
The on-call Schedule: is one week at a time, every four weeks. Coverage hours are generally 9:00 am - 10:00 pm.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree and 5 years demonstrated work experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience
* 5+ years of increasing responsibility in information technology services and support
* 3+ years of experience within a financial services organization
* 2+ years or more managing projects in a matrixed and geographically dispersed organization
* 2+ years demonstrated experience managing high-severity application or process outages to a successful resolution
Skills and Knowledge
* Significant experience supporting large infrastructures and complex applications
* Ability to analyze system/application error logs to isolate root cause of problems
* Knowledge of IIS/COM+/Java/Websphere - must know how to troubleshoot web/application server software
* Working understanding of source control and the role it plays in release management
* Knowledge of scripting including
* Vbscript
* Batch jobs scheduling (Autosys Jil)
* PERL
* Unix shell
* Full project life cycle experience - experience scheduling work, tracking progress, and documenting issues
* Excellent logical problem solving skills to troubleshoot all aspects of the system and software
* Systems/Application/Batch Cycle (supporting cycle, O/S, middleware, and web/application software)
* Ability to follow complex processes
* Experience with databases, SQL, and stored procedures
* Operations or batch services experience
