Systems Engineer 4
The Boeing Company is seeking a candidate with a background in high speed Ground Based Digital Signal Processing (DSP) as part of an overall Satellite and Ground Space Based Network System. The position requires detailed understanding of all phases of the system engineering life cycle such as requirements definition, design, implementation, testing, operations and maintenance.
The candidate will participate in independent assessments of technologies and commercial products and is also expected to make informed recommendations and sound engineering judgments on the types and technical depth of architecture tradeoffs, studies, analyses, simulations development and test activities, and work share between Boeing and multiple subcontractors.
Candidate responsibilities include: On-site technical oversight of Germantown, Maryland based Subcontractor of Ground based DSP and Ground Communications Network products.
Development of performance specification requirements issued to the subcontractor. Review of all software, PL, and hardware design and development to ensure that product design and implementation meets the needs of the overall system. Resolution of technical problems that critically affect performance, cost and/or schedule, management of resources to meet contractual and internal requirements and review of work in progress to ensure that specifications, design, and performance requirements are met. Review and acceptance of product operations and maintenance documents and training materials. Oversight and acceptance of product test results.
Position requires regular interface with El Segundo based Ground Segment and System Engineering organizations, and Program Office. Interaction with other subcontractors developing the adjoining subsystem interfaces is also required.

This position requires that you work out of Germantown, Maryland. Do you currently reside in the Germantown, Maryland area (where relocating would not be required) or are you willing to relocate at your own expense?
Are you willing to travel internationally within the North American countries up to 10% of the time?
Typical Education/Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Other Job related information
This job is based at a subcontractor facility in Germantown, Maryland, but will report to an El Segundo, California Program Office. International travel will be required, and is limited to North American countries. Strong presentation skills are also required. Candidate will also be required to present product design and technical analysis to customers as well as Boeing senior management. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on assigned subcontracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Experience with GeoMobile satellite Space Based Network systems using Ground Based Beam Forming technology is a significant plus.
