Provides technical expertise through sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation and maintenance of company products. Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions. May build a mini-application based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demo for client. May provide software development and consultation to prospective users and/or product capability assessment and validation. Ensures that the product application/solution is functioning according to specifications. May provide follow-up support to company sales staff and customer personnel by disseminating technical information on specific applications. Match here if incumbents are providing both pre and post-sales technical support; working with the customer from prior to the sale, through delivery and installation. Leveling Requirements: Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience. In some companies, the requirement will be less. Focus and Complexity: Work performed within minimally structured parameters. Assignments are focused on implementing established programs/ projects within defined parameters in area of expertise. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy. Work Relationships: Builds relationships with partners and technology group within customers. Interacts with other groups within BCSI for specific features/functions. Decision/Impact: Supportive/Sustaining: Decisions have limited impact at a territory level. Supervision: Manages technical aspects of opportunities. Nature of Role: Role is focused on providing pre-sales support for a defined territory/set of accounts. Technical Expertise: Has significant level of capability in many of the technologies used by Enterprises. Understands BCSI core technologies. Demonstrates significant capability in limited areas. Understands basic business processes. Understands current and future product strategy and can communicate this strategy to partners and customers. Sales Expertise: Can run eval/demo with customers and partners for all BCSI technologies. Can help identify/qualify technical opportunities. Can deliver sales pitch/whiteboards at Director level independently. Can help determine viability of opportunity and map out basic political structure. Able to articulate business value of technology solution. Primary Technical contact for Rep. Relationships: Establishes relationships with technical specialists within accounts to promote sales opportunities. Project Complexity/Leadership: Manages technical aspects of opportunities.
