Technical Deployment Team Member: Network Communications 2 (Ft. Lewis)

Northrop Grumman Technical Services sector is seeking a Network Communications expert to join our team. This position will function as a technical team member preparing units migrating from Army Legacy Standard Army Management Information System (STAMIS) to Global Combat Service Support - Army (GCSS-Army). Team member will be responsible for:

• Establishing the physical layout of each facility (motor pool, property book office, SSA, unit supply shop, etc) to maximize the effectiveness of wireless capabilities given the physical limitations of building layouts.
• Work with the various Site Preparation Teams, the PM, and Software Engineering Center - Lee (SEC-Fort Lee) to document and assess current (STAMIS) hardware (laptops, desktops, servers, hand held terminals (HHT's), printers) being used in the field and define a path forward for each fielding unit to guarantee that all logistics automation systems are capable of running GCSS-Army both efficiently and effectively.
• Function as the Deployment Team representative regarding issues that require the addition of software to the standard Army Gold Master baseline image, such as the GCSS-Army Mobile Defense Solution (MDS).
• Function as liaison, as necessary, with the System Integration Facility (SIF) to facilitate the development of a 'GCSS-Army Baseline' image, if required, and manage the shipping and receipt of replacement hardware.
• Thorough knowledge of networking essentials, installs, configurations and maintaining network services.
• Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.
• Support the Schedule Coordinator in the management and upkeep of all classroom hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Function as the Deployment Team Point of Contact (POC) to work with PM-GCSS-Army personnel to establish a 'blanket' acceptance of GCSS-Army by Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM).
• Function as the Deployment Team Point of Contact (POC) for Site Preparation activities involving Network Enterprise Center (NEC) across the Total Army.
• Function as the Deployment Team Point of Contact (POC) for Information Assurance (IA) compliance regarding hardware, software, and required network equipment.
• Previous experience operating and / or training any STAMIS.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Ability to brief a variety of audiences as well as update and maintain Site Preparation briefings and training materials.
• Must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to perform in-depth analysis within set timeframes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, VISO and Word.
• Must pass a preliminary background check, drug test, and be eligible to receive a corporate credit card.
• Travel requirements will be approximately 80% each year. Must have or be eligible to obtain a valid passport and Secret Clearance.


Maintains smooth operation of local area, world wide and virtual private networks (VPN). Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages.


Basic Qualifications:
1. Must possess a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience. (Years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements at NGC(TS) descretion as indicated in #2 and #3 below)
2. Must have a minimum of 3 years experience with Army Networks.
3. Must have at least 5 years of total hardware, software, network administration experience.
4. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
5. Must possess an Active Secret Clearance or be eligible to be granted one.
6. Must possess an Active Passport or qualify to receive one.
7. Must be willing to travel approximately 80% of each year.
8. Must be eligible to receive a corporate credit card.


Preferred Qualifications:
1. Possess an Active Secret Clearance.
2. Possess an Active U.S. Passport that is valid thru 2013.
3. Instructor experience/certification
