Our Cambridge client has an exciting long-term contract opportunity for a Technical Support Analyst as described below: Description: This position is part of the Research and Development support team dedicated to supporting the domain specific applications and associated infrastructure. It is focused on proactively supporting and maintaining the MS Windows applications which range from those used by a few individuals to those used across all laboratories and by international partners and service organizations. The position encompasses the following responsibilities: • Installing applications according to established standards and processes to enable execution on MS Windows servers and workstations • Creating realistic testing scenarios and scripts to use before and after equipment and software version upgrades • Analyzing and troubleshooting issues with vendor and custom software applications • Supporting department project teams in establishing requirements for development, test, validation, and production application environments. • Assessing current status of application, operating system and database patch requirements • Conducting on-going system audits to evaluate the utility and efficiency of system s hardware, software and communication components to meet the business needs. • Creating backup restore documentation for all critical data, in compliance with the organization s restoration process. Required Skills • Windows Server 2003, 2008 installation, deployments, troubleshooting and automation; IIS7.0 Proxy configuration and security cert binding ; Microsoft SCCM/SCOM; Microsoft Active Directory • VMware 4.0 installation and configuration. • Windows scripting and Powershell • Remote access technologies VPN, SSL, and Citrix • Working knowledge of SAN storage area networks , DAS direct-attached storage and associated components; RHEL Linux 5; Oracle administration; SQL Server 2005-2008 installation; clustering configuration for Windows Server 2008; and monitoring tools e.g. HP OpenView, Nagios
