NOAA's dedicated scientists use cutting-edge research and high-tech instrumentation to provide citizens, planners, emergency managers and other decision makers with reliable information they need when they need it. The right candidate will have: - BS degree in Biology or Marine Sciences - Excellent communication skills: articulate, knowledgeable and diplomatic in all written or verbal communications. - A knowledge of, and broad latitude regarding interaction with the grantees, to assure timely advice and guidance is provided when grantees request assistance. - A thorough understanding of the fishing industry and the relevancy of the award granted to addressing industry problems - Willingness to travel The associates responsibilities will include: - Assisting in the activities associated with the analysis and implementation of lobster management measures. - Assisting in the monitoring of financial assistance awards made under the provisions. - Reviewing research proposals and monitoring each award for progress toward objectives set forth in the proposal's official scope of work. - Providing assistance or seeking guidance from specialists with technical knowledge of the specific problem areas. - Reviewing all performance reports and coordinating reviews by technical monitors as assigned. - Keeping the information current in the SFCPO files for each award monitored.
