Technical Writer
Title: Technical Writer
Location: California-Rancho Bernardo
Position Summary:
Teradata Information Engineering is seeking a senior technical writer to join our team of talented information developers. The new team member will work within a defined information architecture to develop content for a technical audience. Candidates should be able to rapidly develop breadth of expertise in the hardware and software products comprising the Teradata data warehousing environment.

Key Responsibilities may include:

. Develop Teradata product expertise by interviewing subject matter experts, performing technical research, and participating in hands-on testing and validation of hardware service procedures and related software tools.
. Synthesize knowledge into topics suitable for reuse in multiple delivery contexts.
? Analyze existing and potential content for existing and new publications and other information deliverables, focusing on reuse and filtered single-sourcing opportunities.
? Develop expertise in DITA-based component content management system (Astoria Software) and content development tool (XMetaL).
? Practice a prescribed minimalist writing style.
? Collaborate with team of information developers to create and test structured prototypes of content units.
? As information models and standards are refined, work with existing information to refactor and restructure the content to conform to the new requirements.
? Perform style and structure reviews to ensure adherence to standards.
? Adhere to best practices for using the Teradata CCMS and associated tools.
. Collaborate with other team members to implement an information architecture to maximize opportunities for content reuse and achieve consistency.
? Create and redesign web pages for internal and external audiences.
? Collaborate on implementation and maintenance of information delivery structure

Basic Qualifications:
*
US Permanent resident
* Bachelor's degree, first degree, or equivalent experience in Technical Communications.
* Minimum 5-7 years as technical writer for complex systems.
* Proficiency in DITA and XML editor.
* Experience developing information in a single sourcing environment using structured writing techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:
? Experience working in an agile environment
? Experience with XML based content management system
? Background in hardware documentation
? Proficiency in web design and maintenance
? Understanding of data warehousing concepts.
? Project management concepts and tools.

. Research and Analysis Skills: Reads complex technical engineering documents and interviews product developers to obtain deep understanding of features and functions. Learns complex software.
