OpenBand Multimedia Senior Operations Technician works as part of OpenBand’s Multimedia network operations team responsible for maintaining Cable Television Head End including signal transport to the Head End from dish locations, other off-site source locations, thru to last mile field equipment. The core responsibilities of OB Systems Engineering Assistant include the following: o Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of video signal reception, processing, and distribution equipment; o Use of tools and test equipment to analyze and manage digital and analog RF signal delivery; o Make field visits to plant equipment when needed to ensure equipment is operating correctly and ensure quality of signal reception from the H/E. Troubleshoot and make adjustments when necessary. o Assist in operations tasks associated with installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telephony and data network equipment; o Perform light construction work related to installation of system equipment; perform general upkeep and maintenance of the system equipment and wiring; o Provides support on an as needed basis supporting system maintenance work, response to emergency outages, and other planned off peak work. Successful candidate must demonstrate at least eight (8) or more years of experience in the following areas and a high school diploma/GED: o Understanding of video principles including but not limited to cable loss, optical loss, general understanding of analog and digital RF signals. o Use of video troubleshooting equipment such as signal level meters, cable analyzers, power/current meters, optical meters, and fault meters. o Understanding of and ability to work on Outside Plant Video Equipment, including balancing equipment for proper operation. o Ability to work on fiber equipment including fiber splicing and other related work. (preferred but not required) o Video troubleshooting related to coaxial cable, ethernet and fiber optics. o Use of tools used in maintaining coaxial cable, ethernet, and fiber optics. o Basic or better understanding of non-RF digital signals. o Must pass background check
