Tier II NOC Technician – 3rdShift: World Wide Technology, Inc. Position may require ability to work additional shifts on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities: The NOC Tier-2 Technician is responsible for troubleshooting network issues and replacement of Carrier and Enterprise grade equipment. This involves resolving problems with the customer and with the carriers. This position also involves Incident and Change Management.
Activities include: -Troubleshoot network issues on Enterprise and Carrier grade equipment. -Taking overflow support calls coming into Operations. -Utilize network management software to isolate problems in real-time. -Acknowledge alarms and follow through using troubleshooting procedures. -Resolve incidents within defined SLA timeframes. -Execute change requests. -Contact and deploy appropriate Field Technician when necessary. -Implement IOS updates. -Escalate trouble tickets when appropriate utilizing escalation procedures. -Update and/or create new procedures to document current processes in the NOC. -MPLS, ATM, and SONET Circuit Provisioning Qualifications: -CCNA -Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP including bit-wise subnetting and VLSM -Good understanding of VLANs -Good understanding of routing protocols RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP -Comfortable with a CLI interface. -Experience in Planning, Deploying and Troubleshooting Layer 2 and 3 Switching and Routing -Comprehensive understanding of Enterprise LAN Topology -Excellent understanding of Ethernet networks -Understanding of the OSI model and Troubleshooting techniques. -Experience with Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, PIX firewalls, and Wide Area Networking (T1, T3, DSL, SONET, Frame Relay, etc.) -Experience managing, troubleshooting, and coordinating parts replacement with Cisco TAC or other vendors. -Experience with Extreme, Juniper, F5, or other telecommunications equipment desirable. -Experience with network management software, ticketing systems, and diagnostic tools
