. Expected work hours are Friday evening and Saturday evening (10 pm to 6 am), minimum of 16 hours per week. Expect to work on Holidays and able to fill-in on short notice for other shifts
. Valid driver's license required Job Description: . Provides information to the traveling public related to current travel conditions, maintains traffic interruption reports and manages incidents on the metropolitan roadways from the Control Room.
. Assesses large volumes of data (both static and real-time) from a wide variety of sources to detect possible roadway incidents.
. Monitors the ATMS, checks road sensor data and confirms the data using CCTV video.
. Maintains telephone or radio communications with first responders, field technicians, 911 Operators and public service agencies. Once assessment is complete, determines the facts and severity of traffic incidents and prepares the information for dissemination to the motoring public.
. Responsible for the maintenance, quality, accuracy and timeliness of all information disseminated, including CMS and fax/notification messages.
. Monitors First Responder agencies and various communications channels to assess traffic conditions.
. Activates appropriate response(s) to detected and/or reported incidents; includes dispatch of first responders and location assistance to active event scenes. Uses Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) to monitor major portions of the metropolitan surface transportation network.
. Accesses and controls traffic management devices (video cameras, changeable message signs). . Generates, receives, and responds to calls pertaining to various persons/organizations/agencies. . Records all appropriate Control Room activities in an incident database.
. In some locations, makes appropriate entries in the traveler information system databases (i.e., 511).
. Creates and submits internal Work Orders for equipment failures or malfunctions.
. Provides after hours phone support for client agency.
. May be subject to short- or no-notice work assignments.
