Description
OVERVIEW The Unified Cross Domain Management Organization (UCDMO) is a unified/inter-agency organization comprised of government, military, and contractor personnel representing multiple agencies within the Intelligence Community (IC) and the Department of Defense (DoD).
The primary focus of the Web Application Developer (not web designer) is to design, develop, extend, and maintain open-source JavaScript, PHP, and Dojo Toolkit based light-weight database driven applications. A secondary focus is maintenance of a Java (JSP/Struts) web application integrated with an Oracle Database that is used for analysis of Cross Domain (CD) deployments, and investment decisions for the IC and DoD. Though mainly focused on direct support to tools and repository development, some indirect support to the UCDMO staff and other DoD and IC organizations may be required.
The ability to interact with personnel of all grades and ranks, both internal and external to the UCDMO, with a professional demeanor marked by outstanding oral and written communication skills is a must. The position requires a self-motivated person who is highly productive with minimal supervision, takes the initiative to effectively organize tasks, and learns the application of new technologies as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities for the UCDMO Web Application Developer include:
* Provide JavaScript and Java web application development support to rapid application development efforts for database driven web applications * Designing, creating, or modifying database schema and/or tables, as an integrated member of a small development team creating tools for use by the CD community. A working knowledge of Java, PHP, JavaScript, Dojo Toolkit and other Web 2.0 technologies is a must, and C# and C++ is a plus * Working knowledge of database administration, schema, table design, and use is required * Coordinating modifications and enhancements to the functions and capability of the CD Inventory Database with other UCDMO, IC and DoD users web applications * Coordinating activities with other Office of the IC CIO components/teams, as necessary * Reporting on status and completion of assigned actions to project lead and UCDMO individuals * Administering and maintaining eclipse development environment, workstation, and application server VM * Working knowledge of task management and configuration management software * Maintaining the back-end of a Java Server Pages (JSP) web application * Performing other related duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Required: * At least 2 years work experience in the related field * Advanced knowledge of Oracle, and other open-source databases * Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a math, science, or related discipline or equivalent experience in a related field * Ability to design, create, or modify database schema and/or tables, as an integrated member of a small development team creating tools for use by the CD community. Must have significant experience using JavaScript, Dojo Toolkit, AJAX, SQL, PHP, XML DOM, HTML DOM, etc * Knowledge and experience in software engineering, design, user interface development, and integration * Understanding of database structures, manipulating data, gathering and analyzing requirements, and planning incremental spiral developments * Ability to work with mid-level to senior-level technical and managerial personnel in the IC and DoD to develop automated interfaces for sharing (exporting / importing) among databases * Ability to administer and maintain eclipse development environment, workstation, and application server VM * Ability to multi-task, work independently with minimal direction and oversight, and be a team-player * Willingness to travel within the National Capitol Region, though minimal travel is envisioned * An Industrial Security Staff Approval/Top Secret (ISSA/TS) clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a full field background investigation and a counter-intelligence polygraph test
Desired: * At least 5 years work experience in a related field * Experience in C# and C++ is a plus, as future server side development may require skill in these languages.
